I don't know alot about solid cams they are more performance geared than hydraulic correct?
Yeah. More power more RPM.

Hmmm hyd tappet lifters? Idk but all the valves are closed i just assumed he did it on purpose to keep moisture out of the cylinders since it didn't have any manifoldsIs it just me or do those rocker adjusters look more than maxed out instead of being backed-off.
Pushrods too short?

I wasn't sure iv read that some head bolts are one time use once torqued down. I didn't know if studs was the same.yeah duh.

I will look more closely at them on my day off in the daylight..and take better pictures of courseThey do look funny. They actually look short. There's not a lot of threads showing top or bottom.
Bolts called "torque to yield" are not reusable. Wont find them on an la engine. Any mismatch of la engine valve train parts would never result in too short pushrods. Too long, yesI wasn't sure iv read that some head bolts are one time use once torqued down. I didn't know if studs was the same.

Bigger retainers on double springs??? Id be checking clearance on them rockers.I also see stout dual valve springs.

More of a question about dual springs. Seems the retainers could easily be larger than stock specification. And yes, I think the 273 had smaller retainers than 340-360Retainers look good to me what's the issue? You think the retainers or springs may hit the rockers? Certainly possible. There ain't a lotta room there to begin with.

I'll most definitely look into that.Bigger retainers on double springs??? Id be checking clearance on them rockers.
To be honest I just picked it up as a core. I figured for the price and how hard 360 la engines are getting to come by the block would be worth the price. Especially since I just bored my +60 over lol. He didn't know any thing about it I just assumed it was a pulled stock truck 360. Once I started seeing all the extras I got really excited lolThe SPRINGS are larger than stock, so the retainers are too, since they span the entire diameter of the spring. Those look like at least 1.5" OD springs. Pretty fat. I think he's got a lot of good parts there. Probably a pretty nice engine.
Yea want to know what heads they are too so far no luck finding a casting number. Most iv seen are always in a runner there beside one of the valve springs i don't see nothing on this one.Nice score! One thing I see I would change already is toss the rocker springs in the ditch. That's big block stuff. The small block rockers use solid spacers. But man, what a nice score! I wanna see a head casting number!
Did SB's ever use springs? I bought a set that has them too. What would be the problem?Nice score! One thing I see I would change already is toss the rocker springs in the ditch. They are rtv(ed) on lol I think I can clean them upThose valve covers are toast. It looks like the spouts were welded on.
Yea I will go through the whole thing. Depending on how rhe short block looks i may not have to do much to it tho. I bought it as a spare. Im really wanting to start building a race car soon this engine may be a good candidateI see a lot good going on with the valve springs, looks like the guid. There are several flat tappet hydraulic cams that call for dual valve springs. I imagine that you'll be going through it to some degree anyway, but if it turns out to be a solid lifter cam, you're going to have to find out what it is to know where to set your valve lash at.
