That's probably what he meant since that's what others have suggested to him. Now some have their panties in a wad because he made a suggestion in the suggestion section. First world problems...
 
If you weren't around here prior to the N&P forum coming about...

You could have a thread about how to set initial timing that would devolve into some political mess because people just can't stay on point. Threads head to the trash from that nonsense, moderators have to clean up, posters getting pissed off about "deleted" responses. It was a no win for the staff. This place was OK with offshoot commentary when I joined 20ish years ago. It became ridiculous as time progressed before the inception of the N&P forum.

JMO, it's more about your sandbox is over there. Don't drag your **** from over there at the porta-potties into the regular automotive discussion areas. :) When you go to an amusement park, if a ride makes you barf, like that spinning centrifugal drum that plasters you to the wall, do you ride it? Nah, Just stay away and go to another ride.

They’re not ripping on you for your suggestion, they’re just stating the facts. I mean, imagine if there was no N&P forum for those who want to discuss those topics. That all would come splashing over the dyke into all of the other forum topics. When I was a mod here, I would occasionally have to visit that forum, but never really had to police them. For all of the division in this world, they were actually pretty well mannered. Let it be, steer clear of the forum, and visit and participate in all of the other forums.
 
N&P forum needs to exist, it's just a fact of life. Like said above, it keeps the negative garbage (well, most of it anyway lol) out of the rest of the forum so we can stick to just talking about cars and enjoyable things. I've been off and on it a few times but it does nothing for me because of the atmosphere, I'll just leave it at that. Do I wish it didn't exist and people didn't need it? Sure, just like I wish all the other bad things in the world didn't exist. But to think that way is silly and unrealistic. This is life and the world we live in.

A number of years ago I was a Moderator on an Audio site that shall go unnamed, and much like here they had an "off-shore" forum (my term) for news & politics. Worked out great, for years.

Until one day the owner of the site decided to close that forum down....

Guess what? All of the "****" rolled over into the General Forums area, end result being they lost a lot of members, myself included.

To @toolmanmike (we've met), the other Mods, and @Joeychgo (we've not met): In my humble opinion, please learn from the mistakes of others, and leave the N&P right where it's at.

I mentioned this once before.
Studies have shown that 12% of the folks you encounter everyday are "Chronic Complainers", nothing you do will satisfy them, so disengage, stop wasting time.
Like many "destinations" supply daycare, gymnasiums, smoking rooms, for certain "customer" requirements.
N&P is brilliant in filling that need with set rules, brilliant.
