What's everyone using ? i need one to read 2002 Honda Accord codes and tranny codes . Suggestions ? Thanks .

Get yourself a red brick snap on, they were the best back then I believe the newest update was to 08. Should be able to scarf one up fairly cheap now a days.... I have a snap on Solus ultra now. Cost me too many thousands.
Bach in 01 my first red brick cost me something $3gs....
And people wonder why I'm putting together a couple of 80s carbureted trucks ... I'm tired of computer modules, and paying all the time for updates to keep up at work.
Get something you can work on with a screwdriver and all those SAE tools I'm sure you have that are collecting dust. That you've already spent the money on years ago

Probably best to go to the local parts store and see what they have. I bought a Innova from Auto Zone. It does what I need done. Lots of different models so check out which one does transmissions. Just a couple hundred dollars.

i bought one at harbor freight, works good for what i need checks codes on every brand that i hooked up to.
but i also have a DRB3 that i use on my daily dodge truck drivers which are all diesels up to 2005.But cant update the drb3 to go newer than 2005 either

anyone use the cheaper ones on amazon like 120 bucks or less ?
The cheap ones will just be code readers, and then just generic codes that all manufacturers use. You have to spend good money for a scan tool that can access manufacturer specific codes and proprietary information.

This is the one I have..............

Easyautofix EAF-1

Can check out their YouTube to see if it reads transmission codes... don't think it does but check to see.

Shipped in from Amazon. Does what I want, reads codes and clears codes.

$17.00 plus shipping from Amazon:

Works better than my Orange unit for reading codes. Has more options of what it can do too.

For this price you can store a spare in your glove box. Surprising works well for the money.

This guy's voice and speed get's annoying but he has some great comparisons. Check it out.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find one that TRULY reads transmission codes that falls under the heading of "budget".

Do you know if this one has the function for setting distributor fuel sync on a 5.2/5.9 Magnum engine equipped truck?
I'm sorry, but I don't know. I emailed their customer service, and they are very responsive. They should be able to tell me if it does that specifically. I had questions before I bought it, making sure it would do what I needed.

I got this one at Harbor Freight. It reads and clears codes. I had transmission codes in my 2004 Dakota, and it read them. It reads any code that my wife's 2006 Saturn Vue spits out, and that car has a Honda V6 engine and AWD drivetrain. It's been a great help to me in diagnosing problems in our computer controlled cars. Good luck.

I have one of these HF ZR13s and it works well, and the software is Innova.

Canadian Tire has frequent sales on Innova OBD scanners. If you don’t need it right now, wait for it to go on sale (25 or 33% off). If you only plan on checking early OBD cars, you can get a pretty basic scanner. However for newer cars you’ll want a more advanced one to read airbag, brakes and other complex system codes (more than a check engine light).

That HF one is a Chinese copy; it reads live data which is why I bought it.

Last time I used my HF code reader was when I bought a parts car for my wife's Saturn. It had the ABS light on, so I plugged it up to see what was going on. Not only did it tell me it was a bad ABS sensor, it told me it was the one on the right front wheel. Looked up under the car and the wire to the ABS sensor is broke!

Thanks , I have a whole bunch of Canadian Tire points saved up .
