Out in a Blaze of Glory - Low Dollar 318

-
Incredible job Tim !! Sooo cool honestly !!!, by any chance do you remember the duster's weight in this combo ? I love these kinda infos !

Truly wonderful times for a stockish 318 indeed.
Dusters are very good (if not the) best track cars ever made by Mother-Mopar!

I wish I had done this back in the 80's instead of going 440 BigBlock.
It was easier (in the UK) to get a hot 440 than a hot smallblock.

So you miss out on all the fun of going faster and faster from the 17.00's down to the TENS!
All I thought about from day one was running a TEN.

Me and a Mopar-mate are going to do the 'Duster' thing soon and it will be FUN this time.
318 first, then 340, then 360, then 400, then 440, then 440 (low deck), then 512 (440 block).

One day a hemi and then a four speed too aka S & M.
Will we live long enough to achieve this mission lol:lol:

We have many engine that will ALL run good, like yours did.
Best of luck in all you do!

Since being weighed, I’ve added some weight so I’m guessing it’s about 3250 without driver

That truly will be a fun journey

very good numbers for that build , best I ever did with my 72 318 back in 74 was a 14.8 1/4 mile which was respectable . all it had was cut heads 340 cam headers and a therrmoquad and holley street dominator intake 3:55 gears and crap G78 polyglass tires

You don't need a big block to get into the tens these days, any 318 , 340or 360 can be stroked and make big block power and you end up with a car that is not nose heavy good for straight lines only , my stroked 360 made 537 hp 549 tq depending on intake carb combo and was super streetable a grandmother could drive it if she could afford 6mpg at $8.00 a gallon

Doesn't even require a stroker. My old duster, that my buddy has now, is a all steel, minus hood, full interior street car, still has heat and full factory interior, just ran 6.82 at 100.8 last Thursday night. Flat top, pump gas, 9.8 to 1 stock stroke 340, with mild ported W2s howards solid roller, and a tunnel ram, with two 650 carbs. Can drive it anywhere, any weather. Yeah, I built it, but its ALL 1970s parts and technology

That's a nice pass.

Ah the 318 the little engine that could good times for sure nice to hear about your adventure

318willrun shows that you don't have to spend big money to improve the overall performance of your car and still have a good time.

To see some sweet looking and great running mopars.... here is one of our own! I'm subscribed and watch!

When will they start filming an overhead shot all the way down the track using a drone??

i think that would be track specific on their regulations. That could quickly become a safety concern, especially if it got out in front of the cars and didn't have good altitude.

Maybe I missed it, are you replacing the 318? or selling the car

Do you have any plan for a big block car or truck ?
If the Duster is still in my possession, I can state 2 facts:
1). It will be replaced by something fairly cheap, and ....
2). It will go faster
