Project Cheap & Nasty Updated With Back Story

-
Ok, so I thought I was gonna have to buy some stuff. Turns out I have a good set of retainers, a set of brand new valve keepers, and what appears to be a good set of valve springs. Do any of you know what green stripe slant 6 valve springs are? I'm only going up to "about" .450 lift. I'm not opposed to buying some valve springs. I'd get the Comp 901, of course, but chit a mighty. Have yall seen how high they are now? Dangit man!

Excuse me sir, but Cheap & Nasty? I insist if you intend to name your project after me, at least be thorough and get the title correct. That would be Cheap & Nasty, Badly Twisted, Wildly Inappropriate, and Somewhat Unhinged with Inoperative Filters.

Our legal team thanks you in advance for your cooperation.

I wonder if the valve covers and intake manifold are going to be the same color as the block and head or maybe a different shade of green to tribute a dollar bill for it's cheap theme?

Slanty springs are weak, just going to '68 & up 273/318 springs will bump the open #'s 30-40. You should have a bucket full of 'em....lol...
I don't have any V8 stuff. My plan is to run one of these used slant 6 camshafts I have anyway, so I'm probably just gonna use the decent looking slant 6 springs I have. Cheap & Nasty.

So I got all of Cheap & Nasty's valves lapped in. All the valves look great, but a few of the exhaust seats do have some pits. They'll have to do, because this is cheap & nasty. Also, the green stripe valve springs are a little fatter and a little taller than the unmarked slant 6 valve springs I have, so they are "a bit more" valve spring it seems, so they're gettin the green light. So there's more green. Takin a break, because this stuff takes it outta my back. I ain't a young man anymore.

So I'm at a stall. The only valve spring mics I have go 1.6 - 2.2, so I don't have room to install the valve locks to measure the valve stem height. I gotta get the shorter mic, so I'm held up for a bit. Oh well.

Someone ping me when the snail shows up please.

Kidding I’ll follow along.

I should have a couple used sets of V8 valve springs if you get in a bind.

I gathered up a set of intake and exhaust mannyfold studs and wire brushed them all on the bench grinder. There are 14 of them, so new ones would add up quickly.

Cheap & Nasty has a camshaft. I was able to salvage the camshaft that actually came out of it originally. Hit the lobes with the wire brush on the bench grinder and polished them with some 400 grit emery cloth. The fuel pump lobe has a little bit of a trench worn in it but as they say, I'm gonna send it. lol
