Project Cheap & Nasty Updated With Back Story

There's a guy not far from you that was making them, he's a member here, he's down close to Savannah, username something like "Marcus V"
Good guy. I've bought 80s D150 parts from him before.
(Was my once in a lifetime trip to GA haha)
I think he has a water jet or something. He does those, and the underneath block off plates when not using the stock exhaust manifold.

Yeah those are nice. I've seen them. But this one is using the stock (modified) manifold. The block off plates he makes are too thick to use with the stock manifold. I guess you could do some milling.

Rob, your intercooler is on the way and you will see it on Wednesday. I was contacted on here by a fine gentleman that would like to remain anonymous and shipping has been paid for. The FABO community is thankful for you Mr. Rusty Rat Rod. Happy Thanksgiving

Dang man. I don't know what to say. You fellers are the best. The car as it sits right now would not exist were it not for a lot of you on here. I am in yall's debt. Thank you.

If that one doesn't fit, there are some good inexpensive options on thinner ones on ebay.
I did some preliminary measurements and the thickness isn't the hangup. It's the length. .....and there's really nothing I can do about it, because the grille and the core support are the limiting factors on the ends. One maybe 6" - 8" shorter would go right in there. I'm going to have to trim some off the hood latch support, but that's ok.

Purdy sure I can get this one in there and make it work. It seems small though. Will it be of any benefit?

Intercooler

Still lookin for opinions on the little intercooler up there ^^^^^ yall. Thanks.

Rusty that intercooler will work. Anything is better than nothing and even a small core that is directly in the path of airflow will pull heat out of the charge. I’d like to see more surface area but you aren’t going to be making more than 300hp so that will be sufficient.

Thanks. I just wanted to know if it was worth it. It's reasonable enough. I will get one soon enough. Thanks! Now......about this one you sent. @Killer6 said he wants it, so I am gonna send it to him. I assume that's acceptable.

I'm really impressed at how far and how fast this one has came along... Great Job, Rob!

Look at the size of the intercooler on the 4 cylinder 1980's mustangs. I think it was no bigger than that one, but it was mounted at the top of the engine compartment, where I don't think it got as good air flow.

It’s perfectly acceptable to me as long as something ends up on your car. @Killer6 make sure you let us know what you use it on and pay if forward in another way if you can.

It isn't. I want it (haha had to poke the bear)
I have plenty of room for it in my truck... behind it's grill. Sorry. Had to.

Yeah makes me want a truck. I guess I could turbo the 400 in Gladys. lol

I believe a turbo'd 225 in a D100 rust bucket with highway gears and three on the tree would be a lot more fun than it should be!

Mine isn't that bad of a rust bucket and it's a long bed but I bet it would still make a difference....

Yeah, I had thought abnbout it a lot in the worn slap out long wheel base '73 rustbucket I used to have. But no doubt there's all kinds of room for a turbo charger and whatever else you want to put under the hood of a slant six pickup. I've been thinking about it on a fresh build magnum headed 239, but wow, I've got too much to do as it is, and that would really have to be a Big Stuff type controller and lap top tuning setup.

I'd love to do one of them AussieSpeed roots blowers but that won't happen. lol
