I am pretty proud of the AMX. The 421 cubic inch small block Mopar in the AMX is nothing special. It has Bloomer heads, Bloomer 4.125 crackshaft, Bloomer 6.250 rods, Crower off-the-shelf 31409 cam shaft, Unported Is Super Victor intake, The cheaper Hughes rocker arms, Flat top pistons with 11.2 to 1 compression, A stock block. It does have a vacuum pump, It burns alcohol as a fuel, Has a Coan converter, And A 727 specialist TF 904. The car weighs 2630 pounds without a driver and the driver last night weighed 240 pounds. It made 5 passes yesterday at over a 116 miles per hour in the eighth mile. Lots of people do not believe in the Wallace power speed calculator. But if you use it as a guide 2870 pounds at 116.6 miles per hour takes 707 horsepower. I can't say honestly that I believe the engine makes 707 horsepower but I have to believe that it makes an honest 680hp that is a bunch for a conventional head with a non offset intake rocker arm. I am pretty proud of it.

Yeah that's making good power.
Great job !
My 470 only makes about 6-12 more HP.
Standard port 240 trickflows, ported tunnel ram with 2-850 carbs. The sft cam is too small, I get peak power at 4800 & 5800 rpm.

Keep in mind I’ve read on Facebook stock 360 blocks can only handle 550 horsepower
That's what they say. But I have never lost a stock block so far. But I've never made more power than this current engine with a stock block & I've never ran over a .040 over bore. .

Throw up the ticket and show the incrementals and we can Monday morning speculate! At a glance if you ran 9.3's at 145 AT SEA LEVEL you'd be making 700+...embrace it. It's very respectable relatively speaking, isn't that one thing that makes this all fun? It's a gage/guide and besides all that there's an art to using all the power an engine makes. In my experience, VERY few cars are using 90% of what's available and the motor gets blamed.

I don't have the 1/4 mile ticket but it has been 9.37 @ 141 mph. Here is one of the slips from this past Saturday.

I purchased the engine assembled, so I can't say what the individual parts cost. But I quickly looked at a couple of things. A super victor is about $75 dollars more than a air gap, Bloomer heads use much cheaper rocker arms than the Trick flow heads. The Bloomer crank when he had them were comparably priced with other stroker cranks of that time. This engine has been run on pump gas before. Every thing in the engine is easily obtainable is what I was referring to. There's no custom camshaft, no porting of the intake, my heads are the same he sells to everyone else. That's what I'm referring to, that anyone could build a engine just like it without much effort. I wonder what it could do with custom 14 to 1 pistons and a ported intake? I really wasn't trying to ruffle anyone's feathers

ah ok.. just seems special to me :) BTW.. rockers for my trickflows were $550.. i don't know how much cheaper the rockers for bloomers could be?

Love that car though... AMX was always on my list... way out of touch now though, prices are insane

Not that you would. But you can use stock 273 adjustable rockers on the Bloomer heads. They recommend Harland sharp rocker arms on the Trick Flows , don't they? And thanks!

TrickFlow heads and your heads take the same Harland Sharp rockers. Same as Speedmaster, Edelbrock, ProMax, etc.

Yeah.. the mancini hardlanss were 550 when i got em :) And i didn't know bloomer can use even stock rockers (not that you would) that's pretty cool

The main thing is. i never thought the car would go 5's in the 1/8th . I thought 6.0's maybe 6' teens probably. The car is light but not super light. The video of it running is too big to post here, but it sounds really good for what it is. The only things I changed from when I purchased it was the camshaft, and we put stainless top rings in it. My friend who helped me assemble it said " I don't see how this thing runs like it does with those heads" .

Great job Vic, car runs great.
All the heat I took for bragging about the job Vic Bloomer did on these heads a while back is certainly vindicated.
Those who badmouthed me don’t seem to have much to say anymore.
There isn’t a better standard head out there, your performance is proof of that.
And they certainly aren’t unobtainium.

It wasn’t the heads. It was you going on, and on, and on, and on. You had zero to do with them but you were a trained parrot going on her and Moparts and just repeating the same thing over and over again. Between that and calling me a lier twice about the Airwolf heads you went from someone I wanted to meet someday to a piece of trash.

Yea, you were definately the most negative poster about them. No doubt about it.
Claiming there was something in it for me, when that most definately wasn’t the case. Just merely trying to promote what has turned about to be a great product for the Mopar community.
I will refrain from the personal attacks you seem to enjoy. Badmouthing my business, lying about it, my taxes, and other stuff you know zero about.
You need to spend more time in church, for being the avowed Christian you claim to be, you exhibit none of the character traits.

Like I said you aren’t worth the time of day parrot head. Lol. Go have someone change your cam since you aren’t capable.

I have never claimed to be a mechanic.
You need to concentrate on getting past the second round, and not worry about stuff you can do others can’t.
All that knowledge you claim to have sure doesn’t turn on win lights..lol.

Just remember you started this battle the first day you called me a lier. I deleted you as a Facebook friend that day and took a screenshot so I wouldn’t forget your actions. Then you did it again so the gloves were off. You are a useless dirt ball that has done nothing on your car without help. But you do imitate a Parrot very well and I’m not the only one that has said this on this website. As far as you sharing tech you could probably tell us how to sit in a chair while someone polishes your Dart.

I take more pleasure in building and maintaining my engines and transmissions than I do driving. A monkey can be trained to drive. Lol

Good for you. I have 16 years troubleshooting electronics/ computer systems to the component level as a field engineer.
I have zero interest in building engines, never have never will. Years ago I did a lot of my own work, can’t anymore. It is what it is. Sucks getting old.
Thankfully, there are tons of people just like me that provide bucks to guys who do enjoy building engines.
Best racer I know, current world champion, does nothing but add fuel and check air pressure on his car, everything else he farms out. Everything.
So what, doesn’t make him any less of an enthusiast.
You seem to assume a lot about people, it isn’t a good look.

Bla bla bla. Isn’t someone looking at a car on your wife’s car lot. Maybe they have a question you are capable of handling. Lol
