Could cam timing let one bank have more compression than the other bank? 15 lbs difference

No

Each bank of hydraulic lifters are fed by 2 different runs. Maybe one of the runs did not get cleaned out very well during the last rebuild.

Driver's side run has a plug in the back of it that needs to come out for cleaning, and then put back in again.

Different oil pressure in these 2 runs could affect how far the lifters pump up on each bank.

See what you have for overall oil pressure, that would be a good start.

My guess would be a slight difference in deck height. While not likely, a mismatched gasket set could also cause it...meaning compressed thickness is not the same side to side.

To answer your question... no. Cam timing will not effect compression from one bank to the other. Did you CC the heads? Are the heads the same part number? Deck height the same? Same head gaskets side to side?

Didnt do any of that. It's an existing build that I purchased. Different deck heights make the most sense. Thanks. It's not much of issue, just found it odd.

That's almost a full point of Scr on a 5.2M.
Like going from a total of 80cc chambers, to a total of 90cc.
15 psi is more like two different heads; but could be a combination, whatever adds up to about 10cc.
