Red Headed Stepchild-75 Swinger LSX Swap

-
Boost tuning will start on the 4th. It's been in the 90s and triple digits the last week or so and we have the next two days at 76 and 78 degrees and sunny. Sound like perfect timing to me. Just in time for two shows this weekend.

I have to adjust the rear brakes tomorrow, I'm going to roll the inner fender lip as well so I can completely fit the 26x10x15 slicks properly. Fingers crossed it comes put well. We're going to start on the low setting of 6psi and go from there.

Also realised today that my wife has the availability for us to still make it to Carlisle for the 12-14th. So fingers crossed we will be there with the Dart.

Very nice job. I can’t believe you did all that in 4 years. It took me nine and there’s still stuff left to do. Glad you stuck with your plan.
Four years or so from the day I got It. I'm happy with the progression. Cant wait to hear it when it gets into positive boost.

I drove it over to help my tuner with a cam swap on a vette and I ended up parking by the street. In doing so I drew a rathe large crowd, 5 cars and about 13 people just coming out of no where to talk about the car. Csnt wait tonmakenit to an official show this coming weekend.

We got to work a little on the tune yesterday. We only got yo to about 1psi before she got too rich to make any more power. So we have to work on it s little bit more before you guys get that smokey burn out or full pull video. But they should be coming soon.

While we were cruising the other day I didnt like the feel of the pedal so I bled the system about 3x today to make sure it was good to go.

I also got around to rolling the inner lip on the rear fenderwells so I could fit the 26x10x15 Hoosiers in there. I originally ordered one of the tools for rolling fenders, only to quickly find out that 1. It's way to tall for our classic cars, and 2. It isnt quite strong enough to do much good.

So plan b came Into action. Went to the local thrift store and got a wooden rolling pin for $1. Took that back, left the wheels and tires on it and used a combination of the heat gun and raising/lowering the rear end while rolling the pin across that inn lip with the trans in neutral.

End result, with the extra room, and a spacer, they now fit on both sides where as before they were rubbing the leafs.

Well it turns out the 60lb Injectors I got were bad. So I replaced them with a set of 52lb LSA I jectors and ordered the new caps to go over the top of them that allow them to fit into my ls1 style fuel rail(different heights and oring sizes is why the spacer was needed). We also got the new tune flashed onto the computer for these new 52lb injectors. So with any luck she will be back on the road Wednesday.

Closing on my new house on Wednesday, moving in on Friday so a nice car show would hit the trifecta next weekend in the dart.

Goals this year is to make a reliable 500hp, make it to Carlisle this year, and make it to LS fest this year as well.

Then a mini tub, build the trans and a built rear end this winter.

Yeaterday we were supposed to close on the house ebut it got delayed due to something on the sellers side. So it lost us the day, in my frustration I decided to not make it complete waste of my day.

I havent touched the paint on this thing in almost 2 years, I'm ashamed to say. But since I had alot of frustration and stuff yesterday, and a Imports vs Domestics car show I want to go to Saturday, I decided to put that energy to use. Brought out my compound and my small meguiars drill buffer and my 10 inch buffer and get to work.

You can see the cloudy/haziness of the paint on the left compared to the buffed side on the right. Cant wait for this weather to clear and get her out in the sun on Saturday.

Thanks alot guys. It's been so long since we entered a show, and never won anything with the slant 6 in the car, the kids didnt even know how you got picked anymore.

But they were stoked and my daughter made the comment "great job dad, we finally won one. Guess we need to build a trophy wall". I could only laugh. She rather enjoys being praised by others and being in the spotlight. You can see it in her cheesy grin.

We also finally got out of the apartment and Into the house. The Dart just fits in there snug as a bug.

GREAT JOB all around...Great kids, great car and great that you get to share it with them and they enjoy it!!!!!

We've been moving and unpacking all week but we've made alot of progress on the house just in time for a couple car shows and some much needed RNR this weekend. More pics to follow

Aaaaaah....kinda looks to me like ALL of you have that cheesy grin,.... and well deserved I might add.

enjoy!

Great stuff man! I have really enjoyed watching and following your build man. Killer ride!

Be well and enjoy that car time with the kids.

Well turns out the trans is hurt. Lo gear just isnt there. But we didnt let that ruin the weekend.

We still made it to this show on Saturday, smaller one but it was for charity so we still went. Ended up taking home best street rod and outstanding build.

This was from today. A group of about 400 cars for the vbstrong event with all proceeds going to the Virginia beach shooting victims families. Got parked next to a nice hellkitty. With less than 1/4 of the 400 people getting a trophy I was shocked to get selected as one of the trophy winners for today's event.

Well I havent updated alot lately but that doesnt mean i havent been busy. During all the driving around I noticed it wasnt building much boost.

So I decided to do a full on boost leak test. Glad I did. I ended up finding a couple leaks in couplers themselves and then a big leak at one of the blow off valves. Now that I've tested the whole system at 25 psi I know itll be good to hold at 14psi which is what the hi setting is on my boost controller.

While I've got it apart I also decided to remove some of the giant split loom plastic in favor of some much better looking braided wire covering. Much more pleased with the look. What do you guys think?

Transmission will be going in on the 1st to get an overhaul so itll handle what this thing will be putting out.

I love that Techflex stuff. I have it everywhere in my car.
I used the loom initially be cause that's what I had. Probably should have just used this techflex in the beginning but I'm working my way back now and making it look right. If you havent seen it in person you dont truly appreciate the extreme difference it makes.

Spent a little time put in the bay today cleaning up some more stuff and decided to give you guys a quick video to see it since a single picture doesnt do it justice.

I also came across a deal on a btr/ljms twin turbo specific cam locally in essentially brand new condition for half the price of new so I grabbed it up to put into the dart. Here is a li k to the page of the company thank makes it and it has a short idle clip on that page as well. But it should do alot better things for this car than the truck or even the ls7 cam were doing.
