Roadkill and other Motortrend shows are cancelled.

As long as those type shows have sponsors that throw parts and tools at them, they are bullshit. No real honest to goodness gearhead should be impressed with any of them. They are insulting to every car guy who has a budget....or lack thereof.
often they resurrect (field, junkyard, etc.) cars without sponsored parts, but they use their popularity to make some major scores on vehicles. I like the Ford Falcon station wagon road trip even though it was just Freiburger by himself and he was simply sight seeing. No major sponsoring of parts if I remember correctly.

Show me one single show where there are ZERO sponsored parts, tools, shop equipment or facilities. You cannot because there are NONE. So that makes them all make believe.

its just like magazine builds.. you really think they will bite the hand that feeds them if they give an honest review on somethoing thats a piece of ****?

how do i show you if you don't pay for motortrend? the very first episode, and almost every episode where they drive somewhere and fix up some carcass and drive it home. their trip to alaska in the ranchero, the pontiac wagon trip to the salt flats, etc. the trip I JUSY SAID with the 1970 ford falcon wagon...

Don't know about you (or anyone else, for that matter), but I ain't paying a damn thing for any of that streaming **** stuff, as I already have to pay the cable company just to watch the damn TV.

Damn corporate greed is getting out of hand here, and given the changes (and blackouts) on the sports channels lately (Fox Sports -> Bally's Sports -> FanDuel Network), I'm about "this close" to telling them all to kiss my ***!
don't pay for cable, just use the smart tv through the internet-you can down load apps, and mine, roku, provides cable for free these shows are on youtube (also free) a few dozen western shows that you can download on to your smart tv-tubi, the roku channel, they all provide movies and tv shows (with commercials) for free

I'll add that I've never been into or understand the attraction to Freiburger's shows or antics. Making a carcass run, doing endless doughnuts in the dirt, driving somewhere in a POS just because, or whatever. That's just not really something I care about.

But clearly there are those that like that stuff as he's made a fortune for himself off of it. And will continue in some way for years. So I guess good for him!

I liked frieburger and dulcich , "not necessarily the junker trips" , but finnegin I couldn't take , he did more stupid stuff to his hemi than was even possible , and broke it over and over and over , more money than sense !!!
I race one for 14 yrs , and didn't have 1/100th of the trouble he had !!! Finally quit watching the stupidity...

Oh heck no. Whatever their sponsors throw at um is the greatest thing since sliced bread and they'll never admit otherwise.

Yeah. What about people like @Stephen Hotz and @abodyjoe and countless others on here who build their own junk in their own shops, sheds or back yards and then DRIVE them all over the country? Where's their TV show? I just have zero interest in what some silver spooner with a mile long list of sponsors does. They don't have to "work" for or "buy" anything like we do.

It's the same thing with racing it's pretty much for the rich.

I've priced cylinder heads oh my word

i know plenty of broke people that race!
(IFYKY)

all joking aside, there's TONS of cheap, entry level racing that's affordable.

the one thing you'll notice though, is that the people that are racing-- that's their hobby. that's their laser pointed focus. that's their passion. they don't collect diecasts, they don't usually have a big stable full of cars or a flashy daily driver, they're not watching TV shows talking about if's n' butts, they're in the garage building, refining, researching, working on their car or the craft.

Overhaulin was like the funny friend of yours that hung around waaaaaay too long and wore out his welcome. It started off well except for a few things, mainly that stuff was being done to the Chip Foose standard, not the owners of the cars. I’d be pissed if my car came back all pimped out with 20 series tires on obscenely huge wheels and paint that looked good on camera but horrible up close. I’ve seen a couple of their cars up close and the work was crap.
Their routine of the car being “stolen” and secretly fixed up would be pretty upsetting to the owners if it were actually played out that way. The one hour episodes gave some people the unrealistic belief that a shell of a car could be reassembled and finished in just a few days. EVERY car guy I know looked at these car build shows knowing that they were bullshit.
Roadkill showed real setbacks that we all have dealt with.

****, thats what i like about the show. not necessarily the doughnuts but out having fun on a road trip with a friend.. hell, everytime i watch roadkill i say to jamie i want to do a road trip... its pretty much what led us to doing sick 66. and his quote saying "don't get it right, just get it running" is what made me still take the dart on that 5000 mile road trip knowing it was leaking oil..lol

If they post onto youtube they would make a killing.

Just look at how many of us followed your 400 basi build (where did the pictures go on that thread?)

-Rob you would make money on you tube! Being grumpy or unique just adds to the sauce!

The amount of followers that you would have for your a body and slant build would be in the hundreds of thousands.

And many you tubers don't have flavorful personalities. It is an extra pain in the butt, but after 4000 followers and a ?million total views on posted videos-after that you get about $1 per thousand views. One million views, Youtube pays you $1000!

but the system wants you to produce content fast, These guys that have been on there for two years with 30 videos easily get a few hundred to a few thousand bucks a month- I have seen their postings.
Rob YOU HAVE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE THAT GEN Z AND MOST OF GEN X DO NOT HAVE-THAT THEY WANT.

Basically None of them know anything about carbs, flaring lines, detecting a miss fire or a ground. Entertainment is now available to be produced by anyone, for the masses and you know I am right by witnessing Uncle Tony's following. Whether he is flawed or not, millions have watched the videos.

gonna put those mad skillz to the test gettin' that 360 in the mazda MPV!
I'm talking to a friend of mine about building a Chrysler minivan with a small block in it. We're going to see what's involved in swapping the V/6 for a 360

Errr...I don't think anyone on here would call your car a POS. I saw your trip and surely enjoyed the posts you did for the trip. I believe anyone on here would be proud to have your car in their garage. I'll be first to raise my hand!! An oil leak? I thought that was mandatory on all of our old cars!

But I don't think his show was about building and using a car as nice as yours. At least not the VERY few episodes I watched of his various shenanigans. I tuned out based on those I saw.

I used to watch several shows on Motortrend, but they all went away and were replaced with garbage shows. Screw them.

I know that you have shown photos of your car's and they are awesome. I'll keep you posted on what we find out and what's involved in V/8 a Chrysler minivan, if it's possible it would make for a wild ride.
