I am working on a 72 Road Runner B/RB 440. It has a Comp XE268H cam w/ 1.5 roller rockers w/ adjustable tips. My question is what is the best way to set the valve lash? Should I set them individualy or can a do a bunch at one time? Also how much should I turn the adjuster after 0 lash?

You can adjust the rockers with that cam at TDC on each cylinder and after settig it to zero lash you turn the adjuster screw a extra 1/8 turn to keep the lifter pumped up and valve train noise to a low level. You may find some people saying to adjust it 1/4 turn and even 1/2 a turn. This is a good performance cam and should just need the 1/8 turn to load the lifter and keep it from running rough if you tighten to far,Mrmopartech

P.S.You could get a copy of the mopar adjusting chart from the site or from mother mopar.

hi, just set them at tdc each cylinder like he says, it's the easist and it works! the other method is very confusing and can result in loose and tight valves, plus, 1/8 turn is right,

I noticed this a long time ago but never said anything but now I think I will. Why is it on the Mopar valve adjusting chart when you start with #1 being at TDC firing it does not show adjusting #1 but #2in & #8ex? Is it because mopar wants the lifter on the absolute heal of the cam and not just the base circle, and has anyone found a difference in their valve adjustment this way. I adjust my valves like Mrmopartech & perfacar with each cylinder at TDC.

I wondered the same thing. I adjusted them according to the chart seems to be ok.

Adjust the intake as the exhaust valve is opening. The exhaust is adjusted as the intake is almost closed. I prefer to set 1/2 a turn after 0 lash. This should give .020" preload.

The ideal location is the heel of the cam lobe and this is done that way as a over all setting. But if you look at the heel of a cam and when a lobe starts to open,as to when it closes, you have over 200 degress of closed operation, and if you have a cam under .500,you can still be way off and still set the valves the right way, even with the setting of the valves at TDC 1 then TDC 8 and so on.Its when you have a monster cam that you need to be dead on to get the right setting.Mrmopartech

MR Mo is correct. The heel of the cam is the sweet spot. However. With the intake on, one cannot see the cam/lifters. I use Adam's lash chart. You can't go wrong.
