Nice progress. I like the idea of building it the way you wish the factory would have. Thats the same thing we're doing. Keep the pics and progress coming.

Thank you! Im trying but im losing motivation for some reason. Ill post a pic a family friend sent me of the car from a family party. Maybe this will help me.

I know it's hard for you to keep interest with the hours you work. But a little here and there you will be done. Don't give up on your car.

Just when i get 5 days off from work and i think I can get some progress made on my scamp. My motor blew in my daily driver (chevy cavalier - 2.2 5 speed manual) :banghead:

Nice to see the Scamp is still progressing Joe.. real life has a tendency to interfere with hobbies.

A few pages back someone asked about the #741 casting center section... a short story here...

WARNING! PRODUCT ENDORSEMENT!!

Way back in the early 80's I had a 73 Dart Sport 340 and blew up the 8 1/4, so a 8 3/4 was found. The 3.91 geared pig, a 741 casting with the Dana Powerlok, came out of a 60- something A100 van. So it had been in there for at least 18 years when I got it.
It was in the Dart for years.. then my 76 Volare.. and my 77 Aspen R/T... a 70 4 speed Camaro with an 8.75 tranplant..usually launched at 6 grand plus... a 79 Firebird with the same deal... and now it's in my 69 Valiant. It was never treated lightly... it still works like it always did, the harder you hit it the harder it locks. Never been rebuilt either.
A buddy had the same deal in a 70 Charger with a tunnel rammed 440 and a 4 speed with slicks, and as far as I know his never broke either.
Mine is going to get a rebuild eventually, since the yoke came loose and I want to be safe. But don't believe the Mopar rags that say the 741 should be avoided, unless you have a ton of HP and a car that hooks really well.
I always check old Dodge trucks and vans for these in junkyards, they usually wind up behind /6 auto and 3 speed vehicles. Dodge used to make it easy to find, they used riveted tags with all the gear ratio info stamped right into them.
If that's not a product endorsement then I don't know what is!

Well for those of you who follow my build thread things are finally starting to pick up on the scamp. When I have time i try to get a little something done. Right now im in the process of doing my homework with future build plans. (Wiring, Gauges, etc) Ive also been saving money now that im working part time. I call it my "emergency fund" Just incase anything happens. But ive reached my goal of $5,000 and I will now be focusing on the car. Plans are to hopefully grab a new dash insert that is supposedly being made. New Autometer Gauges, New wiring harness, new chrome housing on my alt. Get my seats recovered. And most importantly. NEW PAINTJOB!!!!!! Cant wait for that. But with the pics you can see some of my issues that I have found on the car that need to be addressed before my baby sees some fresh color. I really like where the build will be going though. this car will be flawless when im done with it. firewall is almost done, a couple of spots to finish up on the rest of the body. Our new blaster works mint tho. It is an animal I highly reccomend it. Well hopefully you guys like what you see and if you have any comments or suggestions dont hesitate to let me know.

MOPAR OR NO CAR!

Joe, what's the "new blaster" that you mentioned? Pictures, manufacturer, part #, where'd you get it and of course - how much? It might just beat me paying $120/hour to blast my car.

Looks great man, i really like the picture from the family party you showed. The front end just looks killer slamed like that.

Well im happy to say that I have been HAULING AS$ on this car as of late. :D  Primed the car today, gunna need some minor touch ups and another 2 coats. Then shes off to be painted! Once she gets back from paint its gauges, new wiring harness, bumpers and motor. Im shooting for June 1st hopefully sooner depending on funds and time off from work to make progress. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Car is coming along wonderfully - great shots on progress - thanks.

Joe Thanks for the info. They both look interesting, but I'd be more apt to go with the 110# unit. I need to do the whole car and don't have room in my tiny garage for the cabinet. What media do you get the most longivity from as far as rust removal? Thanks

Joe,

motivation...just look at your first post in this thread. This is not the same car. you have done some amazing work. I am envious. Keep it up.

thanks for all the kind words, it means more than you would probably think. Passangers side is blocked, eventually I will get over to the other side and lay some color on the car. I just couldnt wait anymore to see some color so i sprayed my quarter panel extensions. Im happy I stuck with the orange. theres just something about orange cars that i gravitate to. I think it came out great and I absolutely love the color in the sunlight, it really really "pops" these pictures really dont do it any justice. But im extremely happy with the outcome, especially since Ive never sprayed base/clear before. I thought it came out pretty dam good and I'm proud of myself! :thumleft:

question for the body guys. As you can see I didnt take the car back to bare metal when i decided to go with a new color. I just had a body guy who i plan on painting the scamp come and look at the car. He said that due to the fact I used a high build primer to prime the car and did some bodywork in between that I should use a good sealer so there are no "rings" from the bodywork. He said 3 coats of sealer and sanded with some 600 and shes ready for paint. Can anyone help me out?

wish I could help you in that pursuit...I'll be winging it before too much longer too...
