It's funny how 1 hour and the climet is different. Super windy, colder and more snow.

Where I'm at we are in a bit if a doughnut hole. It can snow 12 inches in Denver and Cheyenne and we get a trace. That's why I can drive my convertible every month out of the year with the top down. Plus 300 days of sunshine.

Man, I drove from Hillsborough to Pinellas, then out to Polk, even Sarasota / Manatee to build for Florida Shed Company 20 years ago. The 2 pallets of wood were in the driveway, I'd run em back, unload my tools, and build em. Slam the subfloor, walls. Do lunch, built the trusses, swing em and deck the roof. Then shingles, and trim boards. Some were really nice..first on was a big *** barn in Bartow. A ramp was added, when done the homeowner blasted 2 Harleys up in it. That was cool! It was alot of hard work, wear and tear on your truck, you supplied all your own Fasteners, Blades, Ect + a 10-99
Man I sure wish me and you could work somethin out. I need more storage bad and I am the WORST carpenter you ever saw. LOL

..and then reality comes back into play. HOA's do exactly as it's been noted. They creep up to your house or sit in a vehicle with binoculars. You ain't building it much taller than your fence and if 10x10 was your max available then that will be it. If they noticed an expired registration on a vehicle then yep, you're already in their sights. You got an antique car? Well the hood better not be up for longer than an hour while in the driveway. By the way, it's not just the HOA. It's neighbors dialing them up. In 2004 and a bit later when the housing market crashed folks lost homes in HOA's by the hour. Those empty homes had grass 3 feet high after a time while the HOA would nitpick about a blade of grass growing between the cement driveways of inhabited homes which regularly received threatening letters of monetary penalties. They blamed the Banks that foreclosed on the empty homes for the unsightly tall grass....

Not a HOA deal, but several years, ago, someone I knew wanted to build a large garage on his proprety. Zoning said the garage could not be larger sq/ft then the residence. So He built 2 stories high, and about half again the sq/ft of the residence, and connected the garage to the house, with a breezway.

I live in Cheyenne for 4 year, if you like 30 below and 45 mile an hours winds with 10 ft drifts of snow....that's the place to be!!
Sounds good to me.... My wife on the other hand....

We are in a culdesac and have great neighbors. So I'm sure none of them said anything.

Height is set by the city

Funniest thing is the HOA has not had a quorm at their meetings in the 15 years we have lived here. Recently they made a rule that if you do landscaping that is not "approved" they can have a company come on your property and have it removed.

Without a quorm no rules are binding.

I would love for them to try and take anything off my property!

The city told me that I wasn't allowed to build the gigantic carport that I had asked about. I'm a machinist so I drew out all the plans/blueprints for the carport and took it to city hall. They said that I'd have to get an engineer to sign off the plans ($500) and that it wasn't allowed anyway because it was too close to the sidewalk here in the city. I said "OK, thank you" and I left. I went home and built it anyway, 20 years later it's still there and I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!! STICK-IT-TO-THAMON!!!!!!!!!!!!

To give you an idea what it's like in Cheyenne during the winter..............Right this minute New york is being hit by what has been called a "BOMB SNOW STORM"!! In cheyenne it's just a regular day when a storm like that comes through..... the only difference between New York and Cheyenne is that in Cheyenne, it's much, much worse!!!!. Cheyenne is 1000 ft above Denver and Denver is the Mile Migh City....so it dosen't take a rocket scientist to know that it's going to be very, very cold and the Rockies help mother nature produce extreme snow falls.

I pass by a house daily, they have got to be carguys

I would guess the house at 1000 square foot
They are building a pole barn 3 times that size, and twice as tall

I love it

(I'll try to snap a pick when I get a chance)

So my HOA says I can add a Shed to my property.

The major restriction is 100 sqft
So the question for the day is...

10x10
9x11
8x12.5

I feel like 10x10 would be the best shape for a shop with blast cabinet, storage, press, drill press, maybe a small part paint booth, grinder.

I can see in my head that rectangular might make better use of the space inside by providing a longer wall .

What say you?

4'x25' divide it so clean stuff is in one section & grinding/blasting & such is in the other... Make it 9-10 tall & set it up so the upper area is storage....

I love it. I'm from So Cal and get giddy Everytime it snows here. My first winter here we got 30 inches of snow in total over 5 days. Trial by fire. Loved every minute of it.
