You really shouldn't insinuate that people you know nothing about are liars. It kind of makes you an asshole. Not only are there PLENTY of women who do not share your irrational fear but there are plenty of women who are herp fans and have their own snakes. I know three and one of them has a 12 foot red-tailed boa. I guess you would wet your pants if you saw something like that.

Also, read the posts you criticize. No one is hammering Memike, least of all me, because he is not one of those pathetic types who just kills everything. He has caught snakes and released them before. He killed this one because it was about to nail some baby squirrels and he had no other choice. He even said he wished he didn't have to do it. He didn't do anything wrong and I never said he did. I just try to let people know that there is no reason to fear them the way you do because going through life scared of harmless things is kind of sad.

Haven't been there but used to go to Osoyoos a lot as a kid, swim, fish and do some horseback riding in the hills, lots of ratlers there. We had one shoot across the path in front of the horses, they didn't seem to like it much :-D

We have cougar tracks occasionally at the cabin, not too often, they have a pretty big territory that they cruise. See bears a bit more often but never had an issue with them either.

What is sad is that the progress this thread has taken on.8)
If I took a pole on how many of our children and wife's would be fine with a nice 6 and a half long King snake in there garden I would win hands down.
Waggin speaks his mind and so do you so lets humble out a little.............. I don't mind you thinking you want to teach something here , but enough .
I am just protecting things that I think need to be protected.
And I thank you both :cheers: I have folks here that protect me here so look at the big picture and think about who and how we look at the person and there personality :-D waggin means well and I think if I felt like you or some one ells was making a bad issue worse I would have dun the same, But like said before, Lets shut this thread down, and we don't need to execute this class any farther :-D Thank you

I have had several encounters with bears too. They seem to be no problem if you leave them alone. We were camping in the Blue Ridge mountains when I was a kid. I slept in the back of our 1972 Fury wagon while everyone else was in the trailer. One night I went in to the trailer to use the bathroom and the next morning my father told me that less than a minute after I went back to the car there was a full grown adult black bear at the picnic table beside the car. I must have walked right by it.

Sorry Memike, but I don't take too kindly to being called a liar, especially by someone who does not know what they are talking about. I am sure you see that my posts to you are not critical and are understanding of what you did but Waggin was out of line. Especially since neither I nor anyone else was addressing him initially.

Man. I really intended to honor Memike's wish to end this but there is so much manure in this post that I can't help but respond. When I said my wife had no problem with snakes you said "drop it dood! ain't no woman on the planet gonna side with a snake" so yes, you called me a liar. Most of my RECENT posts are in the politics thread because the destruction of our country is THAT important to me. You can also, as I said before, READ THE POSTS YOU ARE ATTACKING. I made it very clear to Memike that I was not saying he did anything wrong and that I completely understood his actions. I did not want to "start" anything, you did by attacking me for saying things I never said and calling me a liar. I did not diss or criticize Memike or say he was scared of anything. I said that about YOU.

I have been keeping and studying snakes and arachnids for over 30 years so yes, I am pretty much an expert on them. Thanks for once again making incorrect assumptions about someone you don't know anything about.

The rest of your post is so full of irrelevent, idiotic B.S. that I don't even know how to respond. What the heck does defending the country or politics have to do with this? Saying someone is full of B.S. is different that saying they are lying? And since you don't seem to care enough about the country to pay attention, there are disasterous, blatantly un-Constitutional things being done right now and discussing things that are actually going on is not whining, nor is it unpatriotic. Why do you think so many states are rushing to pass legislation asserting their sovreignty and legal right to ignore un-Constitutional actions by the Obama administration? Yeah, snake easier to see and identify; here in Florida, I got stung by a scorpion on the back of my neck- involved a doctor visit.

I didn't. Someone else did. And BTW, with a couple of PMs Waggin and I have buried the hatchet, and not in each other's skulls.
Right now all I have snake-wise is an adult female ball python. She was captive bred, not wild caught. They are great because they are extremely docile and rarely exceed 5 feet in length, although they get pretty heavy. I have a lot of spiders and a couple scorpions. Arachnology is my primary interest. Herps are second. I was interested in getting into "hot" herps (venomous snakes) but having a daughter made that a bad idea.

Do you know which species? Most likely a bark scorpion or striped scorpion. No fun at all either way. Not life-threatening but hurts enough to make you wish you were dead. I have never been tagged by one of mine but I know guys who have been.
