So how do these ignition cables go?

Hi all: I just got this slick new set of repro ignition wires for my 1974 slant six Duster. As you can see, the distributor end of two of the cables is at a right angle. So where do the cables with the 90 degree bend in the distributor end go? I suspect at the bottom (six o'clock position) of the distributor, but I'm not sure. Anybody out there got a car with the original cables with these bends in them? Ideas? Thanks!

Looks like you can lay them out however you see fit and that they reach the spark plugs.

Basically which 2 wires do you want going under the other 4 at the distributor cap.

Cylinder #1 and 5 take the angled boots towards the block so they don't hit the body

That setup was deleted from the factory plug wires pretty early on; by '64 or '65 they all had straight ends and it worked fine. Which cylinders get which wires is a matter of wire length. The longest ones go to 1 and 6. The second-longest ones go to 2 and 5. The shortest ones go to 3 and 4.

Great solution. Is it a social thing or are people just getting dumber?

Agree with slantsixdan that Chrysler didn't bother with the two right angle plug wire setup after 64 or so, and that the straight boots worked just fine, but since the OP has such a set, then the answer how to route them is that the two distributor terminals closest to the inner fender get the 90 degree boots. The right angle boots do keep those two wires off the inner fender. On my 63 Valiant convertible with its 64 date coded wires, those two terminals closest to the inner fenders are for the number 1 and number 5 cylinders. Like so:

I should add that the wider engine compartments of the 67 and later A bodies make the two right angle boots even less necessary.

I'll do the deed, then.

"Y'all are so dumb you couldn't figure out plug wire routing on a slant 6. Go back to Chevy world, dumbass."

For what it's worth, I got a set of plug wires from O'Reilly's in the mid 90's and they had two angled wires.

And I fucked it up.

Question: How do I route these slant six plug wires?

Response: "are people just getting dumber?" Yeah, kinda like "how do I remove my rear bumper."

I would have returned them and gotten all straight boots.....that said, I learned something on this thread that I didn't know and that's always a good thing.

I was talkin about the rear bumper thread. Did you flunk basic comprehension?
Well, you impliedly equated asking how to route slant six plug wires to asking how to remove a Dart rear bumper. Perhaps that was not your intention.

Peace and love, y'all.

Now back to football games, none of which are going my way today.

No, I didn't. You inferred incorrectly. But no biggie.

Okay, I just installed my new repro plug wires. All went well. The bottom two terminals of the distributor cap took the angled wires, just like everybody said. Looks very clean and spiffy now. Thanks for all the input - even the snarky ones!

You're a good man cruiser. I know you are always looking to make things original as possible. Some of the replies were damn rude.

Not gonna lie, I'm just jealous my inner fenders aren't that clean
Yeah, they were awful when I bought the car in 2019. I developed my own very effective cleaning process and documented it in one of the chapters that I posted here. Worked really well for me, should you be interested.
