So first things first..my 318 is in a mustang. Ik blow me up on why the hell I'd do that but I seriously need help, this place seems friendly and like it has smart ppl to help. So the 318 that is in my 2002 Mustang that was an original V6 Mustang. It is stalling whenever I barely tap the throttle, it idles great, it revs great, it even drives great but as soon as I try to barely go up the RPM it tries to stall on me. even some occasions where I would try to back out of somewhere and it will just shut off. I don't know what the issue is I've tried ignition, I've tried timing, I tried a little work with the carburetor but don't know much about it, it's a stock 2 Barrel. At first I thought it was the 727 transmission that also came with the engine that was messed up and causing parasitic losses but then again this engine puts out roughly 200 horsepower and I'd be willing to bet 30 horsepower could spin this transmission, There is no backfire out of the carburetor there is no fueling issues that I can see although I haven't revved the engine and looked directly over the carburetor as that seems kind of unsafe but I'll do what I have to if I need. Also second question the two screws that are on front of the two-barrel carburetor that came stock with this engine are to adjust fuel enrichment for idle right?

Need a LOT more information here-
What ignition are you running? Chrysler electronic, points, MSD...?
What fuel system? Mustang high pressure EFI system or a fuel cell and mechanical pump? Any pressure regulator/fuel return?
Too many variables to diagnose with the little bit you've given us. So much depends on how you swapped it- how it was wired, how the fuel was plumbed, how the throttle and kickdown are hooked up, etc.
And yes, those two little screws are for idle mixture adjustments.

Sorry I'm new to asking for help lol, the distributor is a cheap supposedly stock replacement from autozone..ik..ignition coil is stock I think looks really old. Gas setup is from the manual pump on the engine to a jug of gas so I could rule that one out, I knew the stock fuel pump would Caz problems. As far as setup, I just ploped it in, found a drive shift and called it good..for now. Takes money, fuel pump has been replaced, distributor, carburetor, waterpump and thermostat, using stock v6 rad.. also ik its not a good idea but trying to save a Lil, all holes on the carb were blocked except brake booster hose and vacuum advance, everything else is completely stock. I have a ballast resistor going to the 4pin ecu from the positive side of the battery connected along with the rest of my positive wires. Ballast gets hot but not to hot after a run, same with radiator, I have tinkered along with the two screws on the outside thinking it would fix it until I realized it only affected idle. Basically imagine it like it was on a tire in a garage, super simple, it's got the basics to get it moving, I just need help keeping it calm on acceleration. Any other questions just shoot'em my way.

Seems a little unlikely that you would have a 727 behind a 318. One would expect a 904. But then, the whole setup is pretty unlikely.

Plenty of 727s behind 318s in trucks. Not uncommon at all.

Well..first thing first. What carb does it have on it? The vacuum for the brakes should really come from the intake and not necessarily from the carburetor. You need to look at the accelorator pump to make sure it's operating correctly. You could also have the vacuum advance hooked up to the wrong port on the carb. To test this cap it off at the carb and set your initial timing to factory spec, then advance it about 4 degrees without the vacuum advance hooked up and see what it does.

Welcome! At least the power is MOPAR! Kinda sounds like a carb issue... I've had similar

Accelerator pump in the carb is shot. That would be my 1st guess. And get the brake booster off the carb as stated in a previous response.

Let's try it this way.
Since we have nothing to start with, I'll post a representative picture below:

The vacuum advance gets plugged into the nipple on the passenger side of the carb. Cap or plug any other ports, EXCEPT the one on top of the float bowl (has black cap in above pic). This is a bowl vent and needs to be left open.
Gently screw in the two idle mixture screws until they stop, then open them back up 1 1/2 - 2 turns. this will give you an initial idle mix adjustment. And for initial troubleshooting, wire the choke in the open position.
Try firing it up- any better? If not, make sure it's getting fuel to the carb- work the linkage and make sure the accelerator pump gives a good squirt.
If it still idles okay, but dies when you give it some throttle, it could easily be a dirty carb- runs good on the idle circuit but starves out when it gets on the main circuit. Carb rebuild/cleaning time.
And just in case, are you sure you didn't put the distributor in 180* out? If so, you can sometimes get them to start, but will run like crap and stall out at anything off idle...

Where are you at in Tennessee? When everyone asks why you put a 318 in a mustang, tell them it's because you wanted it to go fast!

Even though he has a Mustang, it's powered by Mopar!! And...he's an 18 year old young gun working on an engine so I give him Major Props for that!

@Professor Fate has a lot of good info to get you started. Give it a try and let us know how it's going.

So I'm gonna wake up first thing in the morning and try all this, I've plugged every hole so maybe I have to unplug the vent hole you was talking about. It couldn't be 180 out cause..well I tried that and it was misfiring out the carb, wouldn't move and made it sound like a rod was fixing to fly, I could really show you guys better if yell just dm me and I could send run videos

You can upload videos here by "pasting" a link from a video hosting service such as YouTube. Upload it to YouTube then share the link in the post area.

You'd be hard pressed to DM videos by PM here, as stated, do the u tube thing and post here. And while Yer here, check out some of the Tech stickys..Some of the Best People in the World are HERE!!!!!!! Also, look at the different sections for 318 builds. There is some Scalded Runners.

I was thinking about a YouTube channel but, nobody would watch it, algorithms would put my video out of reach, and I'd probably get hate on my passion. 4236642712 is my number forgot to post that lol

I don't think yer supposed to post phone #s.... the whole thing about the video, is so Everyone here can help easily... heck , I even did one. It's just for formatting... the site caint support vids, so you take em on your phone, a few clicks on you tube, then post the link w/ what info / questions you have. And you video will stay on your channel. No one has to see it...

I created a YouTube account just to post videos here. Only have like 3 saved so far.
