SS Springs on 75 Duster

Got the old one out on the left.....replacement standing by ...need to put motor mounts on it

Motor in the car....most of the stuff on the top side is bolted on......should finish up tomorrow and start monday morningish....

Image a 1/8 ferrule keeps you from firing the dam thing up...LOL

Need one for the oil pressure line....did not feel like going to Lowe which is only 1/2 mile away/.....oh well.....Tomorrow...
 
Got it started this morning.,,,,,,Ran it for 10 minutes and then shut if off as it was getting hot...plus my dumb *** starter started to try engage why it was running....got that fixed and called it a day....

Had good oil pressure.....will run it again tomorrow morning...to finish cam break in.....

I think I will pull they valve covers off in the morning just to take a quick look........

and then starting tearing the old engine apart to see what its problem is....
 
....and there went the season. See you next year maybe :(
 
we still got 12/5 and 12/6 race......

This Duster might only run on Sunday...Sunday...

71 Duster only has 3 passes on it...and 71 Dart has no passes on it....so both probably are going to have an issue or two...
 
You sir are a man among men. You get so much accomplished every single day. Me I'm lucky if I end up with pants on by lunch...

Both of those engines are so clean... and shiny... I have 1 engine and its not nearly as clean or shiny lol.

Race is in Bakersfield?
 
No I was going to race here...but our Gov Steve Suckadick......all racing at the LVMS has been cancelled.....

Well...finally got the old engine torn apart....and I found my clacking noise....rod bearings on 3 and 4 were spinning with the crank...LOL,,,

Funny cause I just picked another crank from the machine shop this afternoon....had it polished....

Anyway...got a few things to think about on this short block.....was thinking about upgrading it but....maybe not now...

See what happens with the Black Friday sales...
 
The engine that was removed is now at the machine shop going from .030 to .040. And being decked to 9.58.....probably 3 weeks...This engine will be used as a spare...and I am going to move this rebuild over to my Spare Engine thread in the Race Section.

Spare Motors...gotta have a couple.

This 75 Duster sounds great...and is covered up and parked until the race track opens back up.
 
Got new SA2020 helmet today....open face....the fans want to see my pretty face.....

I think I have an oil pressure line still to fix on this car......Monday or Tuesday.....stole battery out of it....LOL

Battery in Dodge 88 D250.....lol......
 
Had to power wash the engine compartment...covered in dust....oh...its a duster......Running on last years e85...that sat in the tank and those rubber hoses...

 
Fueled it up.....hosed it down.....aired up the tires....got a new helmet.....Ready to go racing....

Going to load it on the trailer this afternoon
 
Had the idle turned up to 2k rpm....finish breaking in camshaft from last year....lol
 
Loaded on trailer.....need to do fiberglass repair on hood....70 mph gust a week ago or blew the car cover and hood off..it was not pinned on....

Has small crack in front where it landed....dam @crackedback sold me junk...lol....got repair kit....got it sanded....just that dam wind is blowing again....the answer is blowing in the wind...

And my nice clean car just got rained on....plus the dam dust flying around....crap
