Starting a BB Duster project

-
Living in Oregon it’s tough to get to track during Covid. We’ve been on some sort of lockdown since March. No spectators allowed at drag strip to watch. We’re on level 1 lockdown now they don’t even want you to have 6 people at your house for thanksgiving.

Working on installing the brakes. This is a Baer kit with 13 inch rotors. I had Strange Engineering install the Torino ends on the 9 inch with the correct 2.50 inch standoff so these brakes would fit. Only problem is that Strange installed 3 inch studs rather than the 2 inch studs that I ordered so now the axles need to come out to replace the wheel studs. Not a big deal, just cost me a couple of days.

Screw on old lug nuts, at your chosen length and abrasive wheel those studs off. BS on taking that thing apart, unless trust is an issue.

Got the studs changed over to the correct length and then installed the full brake kit. I weighed the assembly complete with brakes and came up with 212 lbs. That is dry so once it goes in the car it will be about 220 lbs with a gallon of gear oil. I'll weigh the S60 when I pull it so I'll know the difference.

ANDY DOESN`T DO ANYTHING HALF ASSED ----------------
Yeah, I'm not in a hurry so no reason to butcher stuff. Summit delivers to me next day if the parts are in stock so not a big deal to wait a day for parts.

Any plans on that 60 when you get it pulled out?

I figure I'll sell it complete with the wheels and tires and driveshaft to someone with an A body who wants a complete package. It should bolt right in since it fits in my car. Just need tubs and the leafs moved under the frame.

My car is already back halved with ladder bar suspension. It currently has an 8 3/4 and the tubs are 20 inches wide. Have you measured your 60 to see what the measurement is from axle flange to axle flange?

I think it is 50 1/2 inch from rotor to rotor. It has disc brakes on it so that adds a little extra width.

I'll go back and re-measure mine. The 60 may be a bit longer than the 8 3/4 in my car..I'm going to run the M/T 31×18.5×15's..The rear discs on mine are SBBC..What brand is on the 60?.. It looks like a very nice and new rear end..
