Stock Market

….

So I think I jumped on some MARA at the grocery store that day when NVDA wasn’t doin’ what I wanted. I’ve been in and out twice since then! Wish I played it harder Friday. Committed to the later on the $132.5 dip.

The links all seem to be working and yes the charts have been helpful. There is a learning curve that I may still be working through though!

Good to know.
When the lines get close to crossing they seem indecisive, cuz they change with every buy-up/sell-down occurring live, that's when observing how the candle fills, and experience helps guide you.
Nothing like a strong all green fill of the candle.
MARA got some good media/Cramer over the weekend.
Good work. Cheers

I have never once made money on a cramer pick.

0% success.

Just a reminder, passing on what I heard, and what I believe.
Artificial Intelligence ( AI ) is the next dot-com craze .
It's a very good thing, and amazing things/speed of development will ensue .
There will be a huge rush of **** companies adding the AI logo/ID to their names, news, media in an attempt to benefit from something they don't have, be aware .
Google/Alphabet is AI
Nvidia is the proprietary platform AI is developed on, for now .

If the Fed pauses his increases, the market should pop .

Do your own Due Diligence .
Set a "stop loss", either software, or your own discipline, to sell, - if it drops below that price you set at the time you buy ! !
Buy it back cheaper, sell hi, buy low.

I'd like to encourage discussions, and exchange ideas/goals.
Cheers
I am contemplating maxing out my IRA contribution this year, which is 6500.
Angel on one shoulder sez: Maybe you should just keep it in the bank (liquid).
Devil on the other shoulder sez: Go for it, with Trump coming into office that 6500 will grow to maybe double by the time he's out.
Maybe even consider more high-risk stocks, then go back to current med/high risk.
Then the Angel counters with: Yea, but now it's taxable, just leave it liquid. No better comfort than moolah in the bank.

Angel or Devil???? :BangHead:

I believe the max is $7k. For me, the decision would be based on whether you need the funds now vs later.

Hahaha, - I know those guys .

This thread was to get you looking at you investments, but please understand I'm not a financial advisor .

If you are comfortable with your retirement funds to date, standard advice would have you 40% bonds 60% stocks, mutuals funds etc.
There are Electronically Traded Funds (ETFs) like the QQQs or SP500 that follow certain "sectors" of the mkt.
They have done very well .
I am not the best source of info in those areas.

If it were me, I would prob buy Sector leaders, best of breed, - a few AAPL as core, cuz of it's entire world of everything. AI is forcing renewals, it's never first, but when it comes out, whatever, it's best.
AMZN another sector leader, with them bringing out phone-a-doctor, prescription, pharma delivery, all on Prime, video, list goes on.
NFLX, video everything, sector leader.
WMT Walmart,
NVDA chips are in huge demand, I expect them to keep climbing at a lesser rate, but still outstanding.
Lotta those give a dividend to boot,
I woulda put Boeing and Tesla there . . But you gotta be able to admit mistakes, and move on.

Then for likely gainers, but will have pullbacks, thus a need for "stop-loss". I go for what's up and coming, I'm targeting AI, robotics and their controllers, and nuclear energy towards the suitcase reactors to power vehicles.

My best results last few years is from listening to CNBC Half-time report, folks there, particularly dude Josh Brown, couple ladies Jennifer and Brin, all give great advice, the ladies look for returns. Josh, home runs.
Record it, then blast thru the BS till the baldish chubby guy, or the ladies come on, they're worth listening to
.Questions welcome

Good trading !

If you can get this page to load, everything from VST down is performing well, MARA and APP ( at the top)are really climbing, Pike and I are playing those lately.

ANET is doing 4 for 1 split on DEC 4, iirc
NDAQ is shares of the actual Nasdaq exchange, like a pipeline, it just charges/profits to flow shares.

Remember, any decision to make a trade, that decision is yours, and yours alone .

If you go back to where I describe how to set up a chart, you can get a live picture of how a stock is moving, and guidance.
If you need help setting it up DM me.

I left the chip guy right as it was leaving $140 this morning. I did not sneak back into the crypto miner this afternoon. Keep an eye on Bitcoin and the competition. Micro strategy.

That's all foreign to me, - I got settled in a style that worked for me, comfy.
When that Robinhood, Sam F and crypto came on the scene, algorithmic trading, trigger "words" to fire off computers, options trading almost tripled in a year.
The massive changes, - everywhere, lol, amazing.

I will probably regret not buying the MARA dip! MSTR Spell check hates MicroStrategy is also invested into BTC.

When I started winning steada losing, I played DELL, back and forth, long/short/long/short, just oscillated kinda like MARA.
We had 2 stocks CFON and KTEL both had small floats, (low number of shares available for retail sale), over 3 days, day traders bought and sold each share something like 12 times each share.
Like 1 million shares avail, volume of 12 million sold each day.
Memories, lol

Blamed us day traders for popping the dotcom bubble, lol

For those that loaded that link, up at the top under "settings" klik "streaming on" if you haven't already, now the whole thing should be live.
Klik on a particular stock symbol will bring up all the info about the company, what it does etc.
It will also bring up a chart you can get a picture of the day, last week, month, years .
The way to set it up is in post #263, last page.

The stock I mentioned last week (APP) is up huge, - up today $26+ so far today.

Good skeet today.

Your investment/retirement funds are likely made up of mutual funds, bonds, etc. - which usually have symbols of the assets they hold.
You can add the symbols of those assets into that list I posted, or another "portfolio", and watch what you are invested in grow(?).

I’m going to bounce outta APP. Nice run! Thanks for the heads up

You're welcome, that's a rocket, up something like 900% this year.
Up another $30 today, sheesh
I sold 1/2 a while back, rest can ride till the lines cross-ish, lol.
Good job.

I just wanted to let y’all know about a few stocks y’all may want to consider QBTS and QUBT. I’ve made a killing off those two in the past week! My wife told me to invest $1000 of her “fun money” for her, I’ve made 80% on it!

Both the same company D Wave quantum computing.

Dotcom 2.0
Here we go… :)

Not necessarily .

This is the time to harvest tax loss before the end of the year.

This is not uncommon. Fund managers, everyone who had a stock that lost money, not in a tax free account can claim against their "capital gains" to reduce their income tax bill.
Every type of fund manager, businessman, private individuals are trying to maximize profits.
These guys take Xmas to New-Year off, so trades have to happen before end of year.
It's also a great time to pick up some stocks cheap.
The fear of missing-out is strong .
I had a few "stops" trip, selling automatically at a pre-determined price, locking in profits as I have urged everyone to do, numerous times .

What is unusual, is the huge amounts of foreign investments dissolving and money taken home. ( Taken outta the US )

Many are considering India's market, including myself, a lot safer right now

Why, - anyone's guess . .

Jpow and the Fed started this one. Only 2 cuts expected for next year. Lots of doubts regarding the inflation goal next year.

So since I’m incredibly new to all this, would you recommend I get out of the D-Wave stock sooner, rather than later or let it ride awhile?

What is the reason for the sudden uptick?

That will tell you if the rise is transitory.

Was it mentioned on TV?

...or do they have a new, well respected CEO, or just announced a partnership with an existing tech giant.

Buy the rumor, sell the news?

I have no idea. I was just going through different stocks and saw it had a significant and pretty steady up trend over the last 3-6 months.
