I picked up 125 shares of this at $25 against my advisers advice. Wish I'd gotten more !

Warning Will Robinson, - Warning .
Here comes the volatility .

My puter fired up with a cacophony of alarms, whistles, and bells.

Stops tripped on over 8 stocks, many others are down a bunch, a few are green.

If you had "stops" set, you're sitting on safe cash waiting for bargains .

This may take a while, as these important positions are filled with different "qualified" alternatives, - we hope .

Patience, sometimes sitting on your hands, not doing anything, is the toughest part.

Due Diligence.

I pulled out not long after +2.5% and packed my 401k into that capital preservation fund-but then NVDA dipped to 140 and I couldn’t stop myself….

Well done Pike, NVDA reports tmrw I believe should go good.
Look at APP, it's a rocket, set a stop, move it up daily !

Still no sign of recession, lol
Market is flying, broadly, something like 70% of stocks are above the 50 day moving average. That's good, outstanding in fact.
These stocks are reporting record sales, sales mean people have money to spend, upper middle class maybe, executives maybe .

I mentioned picking up some OKLO and selling half when it doubled, it's still going strong.

I also picked up some VST, it's working/complimenting OKLA supplying energy to data centers, also picked up some RDDT - Reddit, since Twitter and X got so nasty, folks are flocking to Reddit, I don't do social media, supposed to soar like Facebook, - so far is good.

Some of these are positions picked up with the $$$ received when my "stops" tripped last week.

These were all Josh Brown recommendations, and working well.
Cheers

Amazon is said to be getting into pharmacy, with Prime for delivery, this could be an all round good thing, win, win, win.

ANET is close to all time high, doing 4 for 1 split Dec 4, will be nice Xmas present.

Due Diligence.

What is going on my 401k all time high 2 months ago then boom down the past month and a half  :mad::mad::mad:!!!

Do you get a quarterly report or can log into your account and look around? You may find some of your elections hit a soft patch or your fee column is eating up your earnings and maybe you can make some adjustments. I wouldn't be the one to ask about that tho! I've done well with my retail account, I've done a lot less well fiddling with my 401K account.

That was likely around the time Mr trump said he was gonna tariff the **** outta Taiwan, that shook the whole mkt, cuz of the wide reaching effects.
Depends what your 401 holds for investments, whether it's actively managed, or maybe it's rules governs that it take a hit when the market tanks.

That was the intent of this thread from the first post, to get you to look at what your investments are, steada bitching when it doesn't do what you thought it would do . . . 10 ? yrs ago .

But you can bet the fund manager got his $$$$$$$$$$

Just a reminder, passing on what I heard, and what I believe.
Artificial Intelligence ( AI ) is the next dot-com craze .
It's a very good thing, and amazing things/speed of development will ensue .
There will be a huge rush of **** companies adding the AI logo/ID to their names, news, media in an attempt to benefit from something they don't have, be aware .
Google/Alphabet is AI
Nvidia is the proprietary platform AI is developed on, for now .

If the Fed pauses his increases, the market should pop .

Do your own Due Diligence .
Set a "stop loss", either software, or your own discipline, to sell, - if it drops below that price you set at the time you buy ! !
Buy it back cheaper, sell hi, buy low.

I'd like to encourage discussions, and exchange ideas/goals.
Cheers
Nvidia graphic processor company-their processors will be in extreme hungry hungry hippo demand with AI’s rise in popularity.

And drone manufacturers/tech

Amazon has been in the pharmacy business for several years.

You do NOT get prime with the pharmacy.

...and it SUCKS.

All sorts of red tape to wade through.

They will NOT communicate directly with your doctor, forcing you to be the "monkey in the middle" between two parties that understand the same terms, where you do not.

They will NOT over fill on quantity- IE I need 24 insulin pens per 90 days, and they will not send five packs of five.
Instead they downgrade to 84 days and send 4 packs.
This kills almost all of the 20% discount for using 90 day mail order.
No other pharmacy I've ever dealt with has been that granular.

Also, their inventory control and out of stock procedure is terrible.
The past 5 months, they've let me order life saving insulin, then on the date it is supposed to be delivered they "delay" the delivery.
...and after 10 days, they cancel the order, then immediately send a reminder to refill.
If I had followed their procedure, I would have run out three times.

This is the kind of BS that causes people to tell anyone that will listen about bad service.

Yeah, I didn't get the whole story as I was in a trade.

What I understand is Amazon is going to do a "tela-doctor" thing thru prime.
Doctors telephone-visit, prescription filled/delivered thru Prime.
Doctor visit, meds, groceries all together.
Kinda a whisper now.

APP still gaining, up another $5+ now.

NVDA reports tonight, if good, another blastoff for the market, not near as strong as last quarter report, - so a muted response.

the reaction to anything less than what we/they have been used to, even if it still double digits growth, is what I am avoiding. Especially outside trading hours. I can watch from the outside and pick up a bargain in the trough rather than loose 20% on a SL. At a share price 50$ above earnings already, how high could it pop? If the bulls run I’ll be a little late but I’ll be in there somewhere!!
The difference to me is “time in the market” is like watching bone stock drag racing, day trading is like sitting at the staging lights!

I've been playing around with robinhood with my project money for the past couple months, so I'll follow along on this thread to try to garner some advice and tips from those of you who are much more knowledgeable in this stuff than I am.

Interesting you chose that term "staging lites"
I used to seriously day trade back 90's kn.
I'd play an IPO opening, and my hand would shake like my foot used to at the "lights". Make several $k in 40 seconds, lol
I've often thought same thing.
What do you use for indicators, use a chart ?
Here's what I see at MARA, 2 day, 1 day
Last one is NVDA

I think it’s Yahoo Finance that my IOS graphics are based on. Those and the news. In the case of MARA i actioned on the 11/18 dip and the Bitcoin rally. I’m in and out quick though. I watch for slack or a wobble and my 3% bump and I’ll leave!

You can lose a lotta money really fast without some basic rules, and a buncha discipline.
I would strongly suggest a "practice" account avail at most brokers, so you can pretend buy/sell till you get the hang of it.
There should be an "education" section at your broker or other site.
Sit on your hands and read.
Cash preservation is primary rule.
Look up "stop-loss" and other methods to mitigate loss.
There are many styles of trading, lotta folks use "options", not my forte, but worth looking at.
Keep in touch.
