Stop in for a cup of coffee

Oddly enough, mine was pertty OK with explosions, gun shots, thunder as pup and most of her adult life. Last maybe four years started with the anxiety from that stuff. She's better about it when outside. She's also been better about it the last 1/2 year or so - maybe due to hearing loss...
Holley isn't too bad. Mostly growls at the sound. Prepared to defend the castle. LOL
Previous dog was a mess. Would whimper and shake and try to crawl under things too small for her too fit.

Must have been enough to discourage the paper balloon launch.

A couple July 4ths ago I was returning to the house from town where "safe and sane" fireworks are allowed. Look up in the sky and there's a floating candle cruisin' along on the prevailing winds heading for the brush country. :wtf: were those people thinking?

But it was pretty stupid

Exactly my thought. This is the city, but its also the old suburbs. There's trees everywhere, and buildings. And here are a bunch of very nice, fairly mild manner, mostly crunchy people launching paper balloons powered by hot air candles...:realcrazy:

That's part of the fun of living here. Always something different, usually a little kooky.

I’ve always been leery of those things.

It now coming down in torrents. I think the rain has squelched most of the fireworks.

Of course that just means they will light them off tomorrow night once the rain has cleared. At least the wet ground will keep them from causing much harm.

I suppose compared to some of the things some uh aquaintances of mine did years ago..

Yea, not starting a structural or wildfire is pretty high on my priority list of civic responsibility.

Yup. Cats and Dogs here now, too.

Our town lights them off the rooftop of the historical society in the square. And everyone stands in the street watching. Not sure what they will do with the rain. I know I won't be up there getting wet.

I am happy to say goodbye to 2018.

My Brother in-law died in February of a heart attack caused by his own dumbass ignoring of his medical condition following a liver transplant after we spent 3 years supporting him financially, work has been a nightmare with expecting to be laid off since May, and then my Dad passed a few weeks ago after a 6 year battle with severe Alzheimer’s that consumed all of us caring for him.

I can only pray that 2019 brings better days.

I can’t do another year like the last one.
