Stop in for a cup of coffee

So two days i set aside to work on my brother’s truck- cancelled.
Got the tractor to work on, at least get the repairs done that dont need parts.
Swap buckets, cut off mounts and fab up new ones. Plasma day tomorrow.

Shop looks like a crime scene this morning. Empty bottles everywhere, music and heat still on, and more yellow snow puddles outside of shop than I can count. Wife left her phone at neighbors, she and neighbor got in small brawl with a bottle of fireball. They both lost! Other Neighbor wiped out yet another bottle of bourbon! On plus side after intense negotiations we arrived at a price for the steering column out of my Demon, he took it home for twenty bucks plus all the bracketry. His wife was howling him for bringing more parts home for the car that he will never get done. We had a absolute blast! I get this stupid toolbox clean we can call it a year. On to 19! Sincere thanks to Joey and his merry crew of moderators keeping us all in line this last year, a thankless job at best. Likely very similiar to herding cats.

My shop looks like a crime scene, anytime I allow young Bucks to use it... WTF are the tools Now ? Why is nothing in in the right place ?, WTF didn't you clean the floor ?, Yup,, Got a set of rules Posted...Think anyone looks at it ?????

Yep, shame that law abiding citizens have to be treated like this. Things need to change, but the local governments like the money.

And the feds get their cut also... So neither wants to "fix" it....

After brunch with the neighbors went up to fix the roof. :BangHead:
Figured it was going to be a rust hole, and of course whenever I *think* I know what will have to be done, it turns out to be something else.

Culprit looked to be a cracked solder joint. One of the brothers who did the repair work insisted heavy solder joints were better - and this is why they are not.

But in one way this was good news. It meant solder repair might work and not having to mess with paint type products in this weather. :)

Not pretty but got it done. Then while cleaning up, found a nail hole that wasn't properly fixed.

At least it was a nice day and there was still plenty of daylight. Cut a little piece of copper to cover the hole instead ofrelaying entirely on the solder.
Got it done and washed up with baking soda. Not beautiful but it will work. Paint tommorrow.

I would be ashamed to leave your shop like that if I used it because I would think you would be like my dad and lay down the rules like most military men. LOL

My dad didn't hit me after I was developing into a young adult but he used to give me lectures about work ethics and shame and on and on. I think I would have rather got smacked than to feel the shame his words brought when I messed up.

Buddy had his truck in the shop, replaced master cyl and booster. Box was full of snow. To bleed we just opened all the bleeders and drank beer. I think we forgot to fill master cylinder. 3 times. Broken (full) beer bottles and water/ brake fluid covered the floor. Beer fetcher was terribly clumsy that night.
Was a new years get together.
Never did that again.more than 4 times i think.

Just had breakfast for lunch.

Had some really kick *** bacon and some gingerbread pancakes. Some syrup over the bacon and now I feel like a nap lol

I HATE Flat Roofs......

And right on schedule, the fireworks that didn’t get set off last night are being used tonight. I wonder how long this will go on?

Haven't heard any yet. But will be very surprised if I don't hear them soon. I would expect them to get it done early though. Probably by 10

And equally right on schedule, the folks in Australia have started their day on Jan 2nd and my work email is lighting up like a Christmas tree. :BangHead:

Flex seal the whole thing. Gallon cans and a roller and it will never leak again!
There's a acrylic Rhom and Hass developed that a couple companies have been making into a effective coating product for rusted tin and similar situations. Acrymax is the best known. I've used it, and it works well when done correctly on a metal substrate. Like any coating it needs to go on a clean surface. But even on a rusty tin roof with asphalt and other cr*p it works well as long as the rust has been scrubbed and primed. Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer works well for this. If the surface is weak or has holes, its worth the trouble to embed in an polyester fabric mesh. Then top coat with a slightly denser forumula they sell.

I did that on a nighbors house which still had its original tin roof (100 plus years!) and also a sloped section on my back bay after pealing off many layers of failed built-up rolled roofing products.
