so, do you all recall the 383 I picked up a few weeks back? Got around to trying to take it all apart after soaking in ATF for 2 weeks. Its in very good shape. no wear whatsoever on the lobes or in the bores(that I can get too). Sad part is, its still stuck and I'm not sure where or what is stopping it. Got the cam pulled, its a .495/.495 Comp Cams solid mechanical. very nice shape. Pistons are 13:1 TRWs. the 906 heads have been redone, bigger intake Valve at 2.14 and a 1.81 exhaust cut in, mic'd with the calipers. Desktop dyno puts that combo at 460 hp and 485 ft lbs. I'm curious if I can save this sucker, seems like someone rebuilt it and let it sit. For a LONG time
ill try it, thanksI still think Kroil is some of the best for breaking things apart. We use it at work all the time. Slowly with a breaker bar force in one direction, then the other. Work back and forth. Wait a day, rinse - repeat
That’s hilariousI told him to try Graveyard cars they do them also (I think)
Honestly not sure. It may be stuck at the crank. Can’t get it to budge at all. I got two pistons out that I could get to easilyChris whats stuck the pistons in the bores?
And it looks like Don cancelled my order but no email yetChris whats stuck the pistons in the bores?
Will do.Pull the crank, once the bearings are open you can see if it is. Usually easy that way then to bio smash the pistons out.
Usually Steve does the orders there. It is a Sunday though......And it looks like Don cancelled my order but no email yet
