Stop in for a cup of coffee

Another thing I would like to try b/4 I put a IAC on, I want to start it with the 4wd engaged. I think the actuator leaks vacuum and it idles a bit slower and more rough when in 4 wheel. If it starts and doesn't idle, shift out of 4 wheel and try again. A good size vacuum leak might overcome the slow idle/cold and the IAC can't compensate. It might save me $40 and a unnecessary part. I haven't had the issue until I started using the 4 wheel drive a couple weeks ago. Just thinking out loud.
Well I let it set and cool off and it acted up again when I started it but the ac/defrost was on and the 4wd was engaged. I took the big scanner out and checked, no codes, Did a IAC test and a TPS test. Both of those looked good so I was able to reset both and I will see how it acts in a few hours of cool down.

battery holding charge and all gauges reading right?

Yep. I can test the battery again in a few hours. It was down this morning but a 20 amp charge for a half hour brought it back up to 80% It must have been froze a bit from setting out in 30 mph winds at 0°. It tested ok earlier.

My day just turned to crap! You will notice in the attached pix the relation of rail car wheel to the track! Arghh got up on the ice and snow and derailed. Looks like a long nite ahead.

28 years as a MAC Tool dealer and I come up with this. Shame on me!
500 Amp Carbon Pile Load Tester
Its not bad. I had that one before.
A delco one waa given to me, so i gave the other on to my son.
Only thing i didnt like was no stop when you back off the load.
No idea if you have stopped pulling amps.
Average cca rating on bateries is rated at 0 degrees f.
Load test 50% of battery rating.
800 amp should load test 400 and hold 3-5 seconds. Imho.

At least that for either one.
I dont know if either sells the carbon pile load tester anymore.
Everybody’s goin digital. Ecxept for the smart guys that understand you cant imitate a true load test.

But is it any better? All the ones I see in the catalogs look pretty much the same. That's why I'm always asking Hoppy if he sees or has a decent old one for sale.
Sun Vat 40 is a dandy. The Harbor Freight ones are just a copy of the cheaper ones the tool trucks sell. Mac always sold the OTC model and Snap on developed their own.

For $50 I might try one. If it doesn't work I can always return it.

That suks!
I am deeply envious of your whiskey tasting club. That just sounds like a great time with some great folks! We may have to time trip to Iowa around a sipping party!
Let me know when.. Sounds like a place I'm meant to be.. I'll even get a sublime t-shirt for the occasion!

That would be fun. We sampled single malts last week. It was a blind taste test. We were supposed to guess which country, price point and the like. I failed the test but enjoyed myself. Lol

Some folks are uncanny in their ability to distinguish taste and country of origin. I am just good enough to explain I like it or don't! Hah!

A man in a bar bets the bartender $500 that he can be blindfolded and tell any 5 different straight drinks and tell him what they are and who made them.

The bartender agrees and blindfolds the man and sets up the first drink.

The man tastes it and says “scotch, Hennessy 12 year old”

Since the man was correct, he sets up the second drink.

The man tastes it and says “Vodka, Ketel One”

Since he was correct again, the bartender sets up the third drink.

The man tastes it and says “Tequilla, Patron”.

Now grumbling that the man is still right, the bartender sets up the fourth drink.

The man tastes it and says “Cognac, D’Usse”

Now the bartender is pissed off and sure to lose the bet on the final drink. Deciding he will get even, he goes to the end of the bar and gets another customer to piss in the final drink glass and then sets it up on the bar.

The man tastes it and hollers “That’s piss!” ripping off his blindfold.

The bartender laughs out loud and says “Yes it is...and you have to pay me $500 unless you can tell me who made it!”
