Took a few sets to make one good one. All the bolt brackets were rotted out especially the right side prob from the peg legs.

You are probably right, I had a friend with a Pontiac Tempest, tri power. He didn't know how to work on the progressive links to the carbs, then he didn't know how to get around a corner WFO, ended up taking out a row of mailboxes. Traded the car for a couple of old El Caminos after that!

Letting it warm up a few more degrees then run over to the junkyard. Still need to find a wheel that matches the original 3 on the neon. The other yard that thought he had one, wanted to sell me the same style I am trying to replace for $25. :BangHead:

I go to Tempest search and type in NOS 67 Barracuda.
Hit show all. I go through each pop up and see what they have.
The last window is NOS. Its ebay mostly, but a lot to go through.

Yep. The back ones are the worst. I think they get a little dirt and salt in the bottom and no way out. Over time everything in there disintegrates.

I took the chrome center caps off the wheel covers. They were heavily rusted on the inside. 10 minutes on the bead blaster and they were looking new again.

When I took the dash out I had some rust on the inside of it. I went to O'Riley's and got a spray can of a recommended rust prohibitor. Sprayed it on and left it overnight. Area turned a dark blue both. It both treats the rust already there and helps prevent future rusting. Can't remember the name came in a blue can.

I have been using the Rustoleum stuff. Just looks like black primer. but that's only good for thin/surface rust. We are talking chunky scale in these things. lol

Oh ok ya need to clean that out for sure.

found a few referenced online that say vinegar will wreck chrome. Evaporust sounds ok. may be a couple others better/cheaper though. Will be looking into options.

Dinner last night... Yes that is a complete Fish...

No baby mice,, thank God,,,,

So looks like my el cheapo wire feed welder has finally bit the dust. I have been nursing it along for about a year. It smoked this morning! Now I got to replace it. At least I can spend the money with a good conscience. I have wanted to replace it for last couple of years but was just to cheap. Figured I could just keep fighting my old one. A little aggravating was cheaper than a new one. Not in budget, arghh.

Miller, Lincoln, Century, Hobart Spend extra but it will last a lifetime.
