Stop in for a cup of coffee

Or should I say I'm helping my brother out but taking a trailer to Boise Idaho for him

It's Magnum Monday. Goood morning.

The thermostat on the heater for the house is set as low as it can go at 51 and my bloody heater was running this morning  End of summer?
I have forgotten to shut off the thermostats for our heat and when the a/c comes on so will the heat. :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

A solar farm was just installed at VAFB in the recent past. The base has it's own power plants. In the 80s and before diesel powered, in the 90s they switched to natural gas. Now to solar.

When I was making concrete for the Shuttle launch complex out there it got to where I could tell if the base power was going to flake out on my plant or not. I had an "emergency" gen set for the plant. If the signs were there, I told my oiler to check out the gen set and give it a test hop. Few hours later out go the lights, usually at a very inopportune moment, like with a mixer full of concrete. It never went out just once in the day :lol:I could see the base power come back on in the mechanic shop next door. Foreman "Get us back on the base power" Me "It's going to go off again, let's leave it on the gen set." Foreman "I don't want to listen to it." 30 minutes later, gen set back on

Speaking of generators, years back our city hall had an old gas powered generator in the basement. Ya it was a 392 Hemi powered unit. I was a couple days late. I asked my wife where it went. she said they took it apart and scrapped it. :wtf::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

There was a salvage yard in Barstow when I was young that had everything from military transport planes to washing machines and everything in between. Those old hemis were laying around in the dirt. Got some really neat hardware off those airplanes

I have one tstat for Heat pump/AC and oil burner is on same as 'emergency' heat. Unless something is very wrong, only one can be on at a time.

Yep. 2 separate systems.
Should be able to combine them on one t-stat

The heat is a 4 zone system (boiler/hot water heat) The A/c is separate with a air handler and duct work. There are coils in the air handler that provides forced air heat on one zone.

That's cheap. What's your house and systems like?

I always wondered how gas and electric bills were throughout the country, mine are averaged at $83 electric and $68 gas WNY...
mines about 110-155 electric year from about march thru October, then we switch to propane which is about 350-500 bucks per winter, from Nov to Feb/March, but the electric typically stays around the 150 mark during the winter.
