Stop in for a cup of coffee

There was an old machine shop back in the old country, before electricity old. All the machines in the shop were run by one electric motor. The corral was still behind the shop where the mules used to power the shop from. :D

So, one horsepower.... :poke:

I would think that it depends on what kind of cam is in it and how long they ran it on the dyno...

I hope that they kept the RPM's down until it warmed up, cold start is when 80% of wear happens... I make a rule to try to keep cold engines under 3000 RPM until they reach running temp... After it's warm, then go ahead and run it higher RPM....

If it has a flat tappet cam, they should have broke it in fully on the dyno, as the first starts are supposed to be to break in the cam....

It's not so critical to run a roller cam engine for the 45 minute break in like a flat tappet as their is less friction on the cam surface with the roller lifters...

So in short, they should have run it for the full break in when they ran it on the dyno no matter what cam is in it, but Johnny Mac should answer that...

At the engine factory, we had a roller cam and we just spun them on a cold test stand without firing them up... We would monitor the oil flow pattern, valve timing, and could catch a closed spark plug gap... We never put any fuel down them in the cold test, just basically priming the oil system and catching any build defects as that is where we would fill the oil... The oil fill was the first thing done before rotating the engine....

Roller cams are not as critical to do the cam break in as the roller doesn't have the same surface contact and rubbing action that a flat tappet cam does...
Roller on mine. Thanks good info.

How was the test ride Craig?
Went well. The PO included the rear end with the car and said it was broke. John went through it and with the drive yesterday felt it was a-ok. Going to drive it a bit and make sure. PO had 1st generation green axle bearings which I've learned are not so good. Put the second generation in mine. Got them and a confirmation of our plan, from Dr. Diff, great people to work with!!

Hey Krazykuda A question for you if you don't mind. I just received my new engine from Blueprint and they ran it on a dyno so is the break in done or do I need to keep it under a load when I get it running.
Roller on mine. Thanks good info.
Start it up, check for leaks and cruise. Did you buy a stroker?

Wait for Johnnys answer. I would think it broke in on the dyno to get the proper numbers. If you do drop it in and go take it easy on it the first few rides.

That makes sense I can do that. Gonna be next summer till I start it still putting the car together.
Johnny extended my warranty 8 months, he's a great guy.

Got a surprise this morning, good morning by the way. My stepdaugther is 29, and wants Norwegian food for tomorrow. How nice is that. She specified what she wanted. I hope I can fulfill it.

She wants "Fårikål" for dinner, (pronounced "Four-ee-call", and is mutton in cabbage. But, since mutton is hard to get, and also a no no here, we use beef. Meat and cabbage put in layers in a pot, whole pepper, salt, and a little water on the bottom, and a little flour in between the layers. Cooked slow for like 2.5 hours, served with boiled potatoes. Not spicy at all, but all those delicious flavors. Yum yum.
For desert she wants "krumkaker" with "multekrem". home made cones, with cloud berry cream. Home made whipped cream, with cloud berry jam and stirred together. My stepson was like, why haven't I had this before when he got it last Christmas. It was like had been cheated. :) So, if the store have it, that is what she will get. The cloud berry jam I mean.

They have fresh cabbage at the farm stand that I go to...

It's good to take it easy on a fresh engine for the first 1000 miles....

Then change the oil and let-r-rip....

You have freshly machined parts in there that you need to knock down/wear down the sharp edges, then change the oil to get them out of there...

60 bags of pellets in the basement. Didnt carry a single one down the stairs..

I have a pellet stove in my garage and need to get lots. Pay here about 5 bucks a bag and one will last about 24 hours as long as above -10*F. and wind is down.
5.49/bag
One lift for heating house, two fir shop. House is 3 bags/week
Shop is a little more. I light stove in morning and turn it off at 4:00.more efficient to run them hot than to dial down for economy.
I use high/low setting

You were too quick for me. :). Anyway, it is what I hear too, most efficient when you burn it hot. I once was a wood burning stove in Sweden that was burning extremely clean and was heating up water in a tank, so it was burning at full speed and therefore at the most efficient for a short time, and then the large tank was used to giving hot water for the radiators the rest of the day, and the night. But, I don't know how efficient this is, because once you transfer energy from one material to the next, you loose a lot.
