Stop in for a cup of coffee

The attemp to help the kids on the homecoming float was a complete bust. The vocal minority smart-*** kids decided that they didn’t want to pay the cost of the banners ($175) by having to raise funds from rest of their class. They convinced the rest that they can do it all themselves for less money.

Hmmm. No trailer showed up, no one but me has even seen it, they have 10 days to complete it and the trailer won’t be available until day 6...and they have exactly $41 to work with.

Ok smart asses, you rejected the help...you are on your own.

Even all the other parents were astonished at them deciding to reject this and do it on their own. However, we all agreed to withdraw all help and let them try. And we all know it will fail miserably, but agree that they made the choice...so they get to learn the hard way.

Yeah. I made a plug to fit the t-stat intake, turned the regulator down to about 20 psi and slowly pressurized it, coolant floor from around that area nearly freely.
yep, looks like that’s what I’ll need to do. Gonna ditch the foam end gaskets too.

Luckily, nothing in the cylinders or in the valley coolant wise, I was worried about that
No surprise that it would need a little extra sealant on the gasket surface. Just as long as the weld is good/ no pores.

Sometimes that's what they need. May be they will learn. May be not.

I had it coated with RTV red. Guess not well enough. Time for the “right stuff”,

yeah I used red rtv on it plus the gasket and nada

The plus side is that my daughter saw clearly what was going on and resigned on the spot from the float committee when they rejected the help.

When we got back in the car to leave, She looked at me and said “Jeez, what a bunch of dumb-asses.” and just shook her head.

I just smiled.

So, are they doing the Scooby float or going to something different?

They still want to do the Scooby float. They think they are going to build a 3D Mystery Van shell to put on the 2016 RAM 1500 that is the tow vehicle (and won’t be available until 1 hr before parade time) and build an entire haunted forest on the trailer (which won’t be available until 4 days before the parade) with evil villains and Scooby characters in costume running around on it...all for $41.

Bwahahaha!

Oh yeah, this it the trailer that none of them has seen. The truck cap will be taken off.

The young man i helped with his front brakes today ran low on coolant. Think he blew a head gasket or cracked a head.

Yea you know, when that little gauge pegs out to the right..... you just keep going!!!!!

Then when the steam comes out from under the hood...... well, that's just pyrotechnics, just for show right.

That’s about right. We overhauled that engine 3 years ago.
Ran it low, never checked it and is now cooked. Bet he kept driving with check gauges light on. Should have noticed when heat went away...

Oh, it just got better...they want to build a full haunted house in the middle of the haunted forest on the trailer!

Last time I drove a truck that overheated, I could smell the anti freeze and feel it going wrong before it did. Shut it down and after it cooled, I found a freeze plug/ engine block heater slipped out.

Just like using smoke detectors as a kitchen timer when cooking... The food isn't cooked all the way until the smoke alarm goes off...

I blew a frost plug out of my Superbee and drove a half mile to the shop. The next day I put a expandable rubber plug in. As far as I know it's still in there. The car is still in town. I need to go for a visit.

I really need fabo to calm me down this evening.
I went to work today and discovered the person who covered for me. Totally screwed it by being lazy.

Papers filed wrong and incomplete. Office space a mess with cheeto crumbs all over. Computers being used for their Facebook chats.

Then to top it off, they got in my desk and used my pens and lost one.

I am usually slow to come unglued, but I haven't yelled that much In awhile.

Now you guys are talking car and it's sooooo soothing

Uh Oh...
Somebody gonna see the wrath of Ranbo! :mob:

Something interesting.
I just watched the video unloading the fargo.
Right rear wheel spinning forwards.
Seller said one back wheel was locked up, apparently it was in gear. As the wheel was spinning forwards while truck was going backwards.
In my eyes thats a bonus.
Linky for those that are interested.
