Found the article about the battery additive.
It's a one of the typical 'infomercial' type articles that appear in Sportscar magazine.

Tetrasodium EDTA

I'll scan it later, but basically it claims to break down otherwise insuluable lead sulfate on the plates.
My take is it may be useful in certain situations.
I like the method one guy posted on-line; remove the acid, put in the tetrasodium EDTA and let it do its thing. Empty the stuff and put the acid back in.
'Like' as in sounds like an effective way to use it and not further damage the battery.
Not as in, I feel like dumping battery acid in a tub and actually doing it. LOL

I get 15 apiece for Scrap car batteries. If i was getting paid for my time, its cheaper to buy a battery.

This started the other day when we were discussing the OEM type batteries.
From what I've read, the rubber cases are not that difficult to take apart and service.
Whether Zman could find anyone doing that is another story.

There was a place in North Phila rehabbing all sorts of batteries, but they closed or moved. :(

Guy in this old thread says another product that used to be sold used epsom salts as the main ingrediant in at least on of the battery 'fixes'.
He also says nothing works - but I take that with a grain of salt.

The wife is good with that wording being a nurse, but the NY/HI accent no one but me understands her here in PA!
 
So I just checked my email, looks like my reenlistment has one big consequence. My annual two week training dates start the Friday before Carlisle and end Sunday, the week after. So not only that but my sister gets married the Saturday of Carlisle. So I’m going to request an alternative training period.
 
A friend's dad growing up used to use aspirin to revive old batteries...it seemed to work, but he always said once they died again after that, that was then end for sure.

Well I have two of the restoration batteries in the garage. I was looking at the case wondering how'd I'd take it apart.

My great grand dad did the same thing on the old style batteries in the tractors. Course he also would pour a quart of moonshine into the fuel tanks in the winter to “rid them of water”

I have 9 siblings, 4 on one side, 5 that we know of on the other, my brother got married last year, one of the others got married and divorced quickly the spring before
