Stop in for a cup of coffee

I saw someone write about batteries, how to make them look original. So, here is me, and how I think. These days if you think you have a battery issue, you go to the place where you bought the battery. Then some boy or girl who does not even know where the battery is located comes out with this fancy computerized what do you call it, and after they have found the battery, if they do, they hook it up, and push a few gazillion buttons, and tell you if the battery is good or bad. I am still stupid, so I can not understand how they can measure all the 6 cells in my battery and find out how they are by measuring the total voltage. Unless newer batteries have a little onboard computer that measure every cell in the battery and send a high frequency signal out on top of the 12 volt dc signal. I have never heard about that, so I am in the dark there.
Anyway, if the battery does not have a built in computer who measure every cell, what that instrument is telling is just bogus. Because, when you come with the battery to the battery place, you, they, and the instrument does not know how well the battery is charged. It might be just half charged, and the what do you call it take that as a damaged cell. I am by nature sceptic to all new ideas, because so often the idea is founded in just theory, and not in practical life. If the idea proves good, I am willing to admit it. But, they better have a very good explanation for it. And they better know what they are talking about, for I am famous for asking that horrible question any sales person hate to be asked. The one that ruins the billion dollar sale. An example of that later. I'll tell you, sales people really hate me.

Now, from what I understand, most of the batteries today for cars are gel batteries. But, batteries for heavy machinery, like farm tractors or so are the old style liquid acid battery.

I have googled it, and it seems it is possible to find loose battery caps online. So, next time I get a new battery, I am tempted to go to Tractor Supply, buy a battery, order 6 loose caps, and make 6 holes on top of the battery, and glue the new caps on top of the battery and it will look a lot better already. And, then it will also be possible to replace labels too.

LOL, you all have probably heard of an oil called Omega. I think it is made in Australia. A very good oil. I have seen some of it's qualities, and it is really good.

Anyway, I was at a fair, and this sales man was talking about this oil, and how it could give so much better gas mileage. This was probably around 1988-1990 or so. He told people this oil was so good it could increase mileage by 12-14%. Just for the engine oil. So, I was listening to him, and there was a bunch of people there listening to him. So, finaly I said. About 10% of the energy in an engine is friction, and at that time to simplify it, 30% was hot water, 30% was exhaust heat, and the last 30% went to spin the flywheel and could be used for moving the car. And I asked him, do you agree with my figures ? Yes, in that neighborhood he said. So, your oil, does it only fix the friction problem, or does it increase the combustion efficiency too ? No, it is from reducing the friction he said. And I thought to myself, you dumb**s, you set your own trap. Now you have asked for it, I will give it to you on a silver platter.
I said, so what you are actually saying is that let us say you have a car with a 100 horsepower engine, fill your oil in, then if your oil increased mileage by 10%, that means you take away all the friction in the engine, reduce it to zero. But, you had to go to 12-14%. That means you can turn off the key and the engine will still spin and give 2-4 horsepower. How is that possible ? And, I put it in such a way that everyone who were standing around understood what I said. People started laughing, and left. I left in a hurry too, I did not want to cause any more commotion than I had. And not that I am any smarter than other folks, far from. But, I am sceptical, and I am not afraid to ruin someone sale if it is based on a lie. Then, if the guy had said that their oil could reduce friction by 12-14%, that I maybe could believe. But, he had to go all the way to mileage and fell in his own trap.

Has anyone in here had their own poster made. For example a nice car, take a picture of it in nice surroundings, and have it printed on glossy large paper ? I wonder how good such a picture have to be.

Yep, Walgreens can print it on canvas even.

Wonder if my camera is good enough for it, I mean that the resolution is high enough.

Bill
Could take a couple pics, send them over and see. Print them out normal size for a couple bucks and see what they look like

@Ddaddy would probably have that answer when he sees the ?
Or @inkjunkie
Dave can definitely tell you what will work. What size do you want to do? He has had some very large pieces done for his home. I think most cameras/ phones will give a good enough pic for at least a ‘normal’ poster. Just can’t lose the resolution transferring it. Like when guys want stuff done on here, he needs it emailed cause the site shrinks it down.

Anyone happen to know the lengths of the pushrods for the master cylinders on A body disc cars? I've got one that came with the dart, not sure if its drum or disc and needing to compare to see if it'll work for the disc master I have just put on the polara?

Hey Ramie, glad you stopped by.
I see you are a Staff Member. I guess I didn't notice, or missed it.
And here I thought TMM was our only group monitor. :poke:
