Stop in for a cup of coffee

I have one other swap I would like to make on a rusted out hulk of a 68 Roadrunner.
Sacrilege is the name that comes to mind.

Hi, Mike good to see you. Hope things are going well.
Larry
thank you Larry, doing good, so glad to be off the floor after completing these rear brakes . Removing and re installing these shoes three times, sucks at times to be 61, but I got it done buddy

Whatever do you mean? They are all round!
Had to have something to roll it around...

So in less than a month since it landed, i got it unsiezed and running and moving under its own power.
Moon wheel covers but would need really wide wheels for the back.
Instead i traded some work for a set of aluminum turbine wheels.
They will look ok.

I hope to get all of mine out and in a row for a picture and to sell them. If the rain hold off long enough

If you need parts let me know. I may have it

I don't know if this will work but it is up near Hoppy and if I had the money.....

Thanks. Im just scratching the surface,
Front wheel dust caps gone, so im thinking shoes were pulled so it would roll.
Brakes will be next after i get cooling system sorted out.

So I have some vacation time coming up.

So my co workers asked "you going to Vegas and party out your vacation, maybe come back married"

I replied " not a chance, I have cars to build"

So my vacation is being planned around a 70 dodge D100. Original slant six truck, I pulled the original slant out and it's toast.

So the next natural thought is to replace it with another slant that runs.

Ok, so I have another slant in stock and it does run so I just need to swap the motor mounts and oil pan and drop it in.

Then i had a thought. I have a 66 fury with a poly 318. It does run. I really don't see myself spending big money to make a performance engine out of the old dinosaur but since it runs, there is no way I am throwing it away. I am not really wanting to leave it in the fury because it doesn't fit the goals of the fury.

So tonight I had a thought hit me. I have been hearing over and over that poly 318s make good truck motors. (You can probably see where this is going)

70 dodge D100 + 318 poly:

Good idea. Or Bad idea????

One pro is it would be a power upgrade, although I don't need the truck to be a racer

One con is a 70 D100 was never available with a poly, by 70 they used an LA

One more pro is it would be a good home for the dinosaur poly.

One more con is I don't know much about the poly so what do you guys think.

@dukeboy_318

The poly is a good engine. Tough as nails block, good oiling and cooling. The biggest thing is it weighs a buttload for its displacement, almost as much as a B series big block and depending on accessories, can near a stock RB.

The other issue is parts are expensive. Intakes are 3-5 times that of an LA or BB. Cam choices are pretty much custom grinds.

That said, with a stock cam and a stock 4 barrel and a good tune, they can hit 275-300 hp easily. Limited mostly by the crappy flowing manifolds.

There’s been people pick up 75 hp on a just a header swap on a dyno. Course header choices are limited and pricey. All depends on what you want to do.

Dam forgot how awkward a slant is on a cheap HF engine stand. Definitely glad it is stripping not assembly time!

This thing is strange pretty clean inside but the cylinders have a ridge, not getting it except that I can believe it is 6K on it. Oil smelled like PA crude also. WSonder if it was original also? Broke out my ridge reamer yesterday and actually forgot how to use it it has been so long!
