Stop in for a cup of coffee

@mopar_Tim

Mike Ritz has nice list of groups on his website.
Vintage Racing Organizations
He's a member, although not sure when he last check in.

Another guy who occassionally posts here is Tim Herron.
He's in the LA area and is a great guy.
No bling, but fun and keeps it safe (as safe as you can be on a track anyway)
Alltime Racing

Tim,
Are you looking for vintage racing rules? In California?
I only autocross. That's one car at a time - even with the new high speed autocross that SCCA is dipping their toes into.
For real racing (real as in, driving against each other directly) there's probably two, maybe three groups active out your way for vintage classes.
Yes, am interested in Auto cross and Vintage racing, want to look at setup rules for both....You posted a while back, alas gone....As far as I can see!!!!

A big reason I decides to sell my 69 'Vert is because of needing a roll bar to compete....was a non starter for me, in that car...

Got it!
lemme look for the SCCA autocross rules.
You're right I did list some links before. Where? Maybe in a conversation. I'll look.

It's too bad Dave Mapes hasn't kept his website up to date (not that I can speak).
He did like you're thinking.
He started prepping the car and trying things out in autocrossing. He joked the car was C Prepared Light because it wasnt even close to rules allowances for that class. But that didn't matter, since the real goal was the road race rules.

I have a good budget, a real nice 66 to start with, so I am going to see what I can do!

Looking at Mike's list (Team Starfish Mike, not TMM) it
seems that VARA and HSR-West may run at the tracks closest to you.
SCCA does have a vintage classes but it seems like not all regions run them.

Oh My God, what a day. 9:30am... There was a kid who stabbed the police liaison officer at my sons high school. You will see it in the news. Oshkosh West. Officer shot the kid. Officer is out of surgery with knife wound to his neck and gun shot wound to his wrist. No official word on the kid but 5 rounds were fired. Kid posted something last night about today being the day.... anyway. 1200 or so students evacuated and all of us out in the snow waiting to pick them up. I am beat...

I bet. They had something similar at my daughters a couple weeks back, talk about a heart rate riser

Tim Herron (alltimeracing) will be a good resource. He knows where to spend time money and what is not needed. He's done a 65 or 66 Dart* as well and an E-body 'cuda for himself as well as helped set up and prep other cars. And he's got lots of track time.

*318 tunnel ram, originally was for 24 hrs of Lemons. Then he decided it was too good to keep using for Lemons.

Lots of things to talk about at your dinner table tonight. Glad to hear your son is ok.

He heard the gun shots but thought it was someone banging on the doors. No one was too concerned until they saw the faces drop from those who knew, then all doors locked and kids all funneled away from the doors and windows. So glad most everyone is ok.

Well its an experience that he'll remember the rest of his life. Now he understands things like this can happen anywhere at anytime. He'll have a new understanding of being aware of his surroundings and whats going on. Be sure and ask him if he has questions. Ask him again in a week or so. You two have a great relationship so I'm sure he'll be fine.

Could you CC me on those links too please?

Tim,
I can't find an old post or PM with it either. Go figure.

The SCCA solo rules can be downloaded as pdf from
Sports Car Club of America

Direct link to the pdf
https://www.scca.com/downloads/48116-2019-11-09-solo-rules-book-1-complete-reduced/download

CAM classes (supplemental)
https://www.scca.com/downloads/48152-2020-cam-handout-v3-2019-11-26/download

Heritage Class rules (supplemental)

My two cents is that CAM-Traditional is a way to spend a lot of money in directions that don't align with most vintage racing.
E Street Prepared,
C Prepared
Street Mod (maybe)
or if the local club has Historic Classes, those probably will align better.

OH any one need some NASCAR only slicks? 15 rim x13 wide I believe. Goodyear NOS no idea what year.

I’m glad for you and for him and his classmates. I remember the days following columbine. We had some idiot who kept threatening to do the same thing, even lit off firecrackers one afternoon. Lock down was scary but the evacuation and searches were even scarier to me anyway.
