Staying on the other side of the door depends entirely on what you know and are capable of. Otherwise you get shoved back through it and discarded like last weeks fish wrapper.
Getting through the door with the paper key is the easy part, staying on the other side of it is a lot harder.
I have been blessed, in my profession the guys who are engineers coming from the practical side (licensed vs degree) tend to be more sought after as they have the hands on practical knowledge to get you out of a bind. Every time there is a push to change that there is usually a casualty and loss of life or damage to the vessels that ends the push. Something to be said about hands on.

I completely agree with you. You see, I am a guy with only a high school diploma that has risen to the top of my profession through hard work, knowledge and skill. I started this path at the lowest level of lab assistant...but am now a Senior Vice President of a World class Pharmaceutical Company with dozens of patents on drug delivery innovation and 10 FDA approved drug products. I have spent my career creating the cutting edge of innovation for new drugs.
I had no paper key to get through the door...I shoved my way in.
These days, they are desperately trying to keep me from going back through the door and pursuing my other dreams.

Well, I didnt find a pitman arm, so I just ordered an new one from Speedway when I got home. I did buy and install a 2000cfm garage exhaust fan in the wall. It has automatic shutters. So tired of welding smoke, grinding dust, and car exhaust. Had a cigar to test...works well, I am please. Now have heat, air conditioning, and exhaust.
Evening. Damn tv woke me up again. Wife insists on having it on,at midnight its still going. remote is mia and i decided to get up and turn it off. Hmm, heartburn. Yup. Sitting up and waiting for it to subside.

feelin better is a good thing. I've been coughing like crazy for over a week from 'nasal drip' Still got it, but much better today.
Reporting for the midnight shift I guess!
I haven't been to the machine shop in about three weeks, so I don't know how much progress he's made on the head. I was able to mock up the two end pistons in the block so I have a number for the deck height now. Still don't have a camshaft yet.
What kind of phone is it?

Worked on the duster this evening...... I am spending a ton of time looking for small pieces for it.
I rounded up a complete alternator bracket set and found the correct bolts and got it on the engine.
Then I dug out a correct throttle bracket out of the barn, surprised i found one but i think the swivel is wrong.
Tomorrow I'm going to mess with measuring for the driveshaft. I got a yoke off a junk driveshaft.
Then I need to look for more small pieces
