Stop in for a cup of coffee

“A US official told CNN that there were no initial reports of any US casualties, but an assessment of the impact of the strikes is underway. There are casualties among the Iraqis at Ain al-Asad airbase following the attack, an Iraqi security source tells CNN. The number of casualties and whether the individuals were killed or wounded was not immediately clear.”

I never went in country but my squadron did a weird, first of it's kind thing there. The Carrier forward deployed EA6B's and personnel inland off of the ship and crews rotated through. First land deployment off of a carrier like that I heard.
Hmm never heard of that thing either. Cool though

Not to be a war monger but I will say they have been flying hard all day out of the Naval Air Station here.

We'll have to do what we have to do.
Presumably we had plans in place..
Keeping it from spiraling out of control will be an achievement.
I think its doable..

The anticipated call from my maternal unit the news hawk, San Diego local news stated that Coronado, Mira Mar, Pendleton, are all on near lockdown status.

They probably went to a heightened Threatcon at both bases here, glad I don't need to go pick up any meds/groceries.

All these current events seem to me like they were bound to happen sooner or later.

There is almost no stopping it.

In car news, the head of BMW R&D had this to say today about the company’s future...

“On the diesel side, production of the 1.5-liter, three-cylinder entry engine will end and the 400-hp, six-cylinder won’t be replaced because it is too expensive and too complicated to build with its four turbos. However, our four- and six-cylinder diesels will remain for at least another 20 years and our gasoline units for at least 30 years.”

It is interesting to consider that BMW, in its refusal to fully dive into electrification, might just be embracing typical German cold-eyed realism, since even in Europe fully-electric cars still only represent a single-digit percentage of the market.

The internal combustion engine ain’t dead yet!

Just a simple supper. Mac and cheese with ham and peas.

The small Diesel engine makes a ton of torque. I Have one in my VW. It is a blast to drive. Tuned of course, with a very reasonable tune.
