Went and fired the fargo. Still purrs. Gave up on shop, son is bringing the bolt bin tomorrow. Then i have to pull stuff off the wall, raise my speaker/shelf and paint the new bin.

Well, lets put it this way. In the hour I've been gone from here. I changed the oil and filter on my John Deere. Replaced the valve cover gaskets, and spark plugs......And Guess What??? When I turn the key, it starts right up.........

The dual ballast is the only difference. New style ecu’s dont use the dual ballast.

Can’t get it to idle down either. Thought maybe the electric fuel pump was the cause, switched back to the mechanical, same issue.
Gas........Check vacuum yet? Might be low.....Would cause the high idle and not continue running.....
Stock point distributor?

Yes, revs to at least 4,000 right after starting
And did you use the electric pump? If so did you hook it to ign. on or ign. crank? It may also need a regulator.
