I heard it. You have something fu**ed up. Electric pump?Yes, revs to at least 4,000 right after starting
You really need to open up that carb. Can’t get it to idle down either. Thought maybe the electric fuel pump was the cause, switched back to the mechanical, same issue.
I tried it with both the electric and the mechanical, fuel pressure gauge reads 7-8 cranking with the mechanical, drops to 5-6 as it’s reving. Electric is pushing a steady 10 psi cranking and “running” , it has a built in regulator so I can turn that down if too muchAnd did you use the electric pump? If so did you hook it to ign. on or ign. crank? It may also need a regulator.
Brand new carb? You really need to open up that carb.
Edelbrock carb? No more than 5# at idle. Holleys only about 7#. I bet the pump is causing the carb to bleed over.I tried it with both the electric and the mechanical, fuel pressure gauge reads 7-8 cranking with the mechanical, drops to 5-6 as it’s reving. Unhook it and plug the hose with a screw or golf tee for now.Could timing cause it to rev up like that? Trying to think if I had the vacuum advance hooked up
Didn’t see anyone ask?Did not respond on vacuum reading.....
Holley street dominator,Edelbrock carb? No more than 5# at idle. Holleys only about 7#. I bet the pump is causing the carb to bleed over.
Brand new Holley I got off of Mopar Tim for a fair prices. 550-570 cfm, if I recall right. Vacuum secondaries.Oh, brand new carb. What is it? Eddie? You have the secondaries caught open. Cycle throttle wide open and back to closed. Or open the rear vacuum butterfly and see if they are closed.
Dam holleys im out. Dont know **** about them. Dont wanna.Holley street dominator,
but if the electric pump was over pumping the carb, wouldn’t the mechanical that’s running at 5 psi fix that issue?
I know enough to tell you to pull it and see if the transfer ports are open too much. I bet they are. Its going rich and flooding it.Dam holleys im out. Dont know **** about them. Dont wanna.
Didn’t see anyone ask?
Gas........Check vacuum yet? Might be low.....Would cause the high idle and not continue running.....
I’m still thinking it’s electrical or timing in nature. I did run it a couple times with no fuel lines going to it, just full bowls, until it died and it rev’d up the same way. It’s why I’m skeptical of it being carb related. Both butterflies are opening and closing normally. Even disconnected the throttle cable and kickdown to manually move it and it didn’t changeDam holleys im out. Dont know **** about them. Dont wanna.
Nice!!And now for something completely different. Wife has mad pottery skills. Her own kiln, wheel etc. when I drink mead I love to put it in one of her clay goblets. Makes me feel all kingly! Mead is from local guy. Right tasty!

Not disagreeing but where? I have all the vacuum ports plugged with new vacuum caps.Jeezzz. If the engine is running fast, with the throttle closed, then it has to be getting Air from somewhere!!! A vacuum leak. a BIG leak...
