And I have a question for the smart guys here. What will happen if you have a storage tank, and you have 2 Compressors feeding it, a 3HP and a 5HP running off the same pressure switch? I know from experience, but anyone care to guess?
I bet Keith or Matt would know....

im guessing you'd over heat one of the compressors?

There are electrical switches called alternators that will power one compressor, shut it off, and then run the other. That prevents running the compressor with the lower pressure switch all the time. It spreads the wear and tear between the compressors. They use them on duplex compressors.

OK, the 3HP burns out. The reason, the 5HP pushes against the smaller motor. The smaller hogs the load....Tried it several times on a Game in the carnival. Machine guns. Tank will have more CFM being applied to it, BUT it will not attain pressure quicker. In other words, it can keep up with a load better, but the smaller will still eventually burn out...

Hmmm, Should build pressure faster with 2 pumps running. BUT, if it still is not enough, it just won't get full. Other factor might be the pressure each is capable of. Sounds like you got to a point where the 5 was putting out more pressure than the 3 could push against. That would make it overheat.

I would either replace it or do nothing. Covering it will only trap heat and possibly make it worse. My point was that the crack allows 'gas' to leak out vs blow it apart.
I 'leaked' this morning, and I'm OK. :D
Now my brain is starting to hurt!

Light bulb still works after 50 years and how many thousand miles!
Night time is always the most interesting to scroll down the AM dial...
It is I enjoy it to. I remember in the younger years at night, listening to a rock station out of Chicago.

I discovered Sirius radio a few years ago. Hmm, makes driving, especially road trips, so much more enjoyable!!

That's an amazing resource Been looking for somehting like that for years.

Good luck finding music on AM any longer....
There last one around here had a format like from the 50s, with two or more announcers at a time. Played a lot of big band type music. There's still music on it - all Disney music. Not that there is anything wrong with disney music.
