PG&E and SCE must have moved their brush removal teams to Az. Two pretty sizable fires over there.

For cars, yes. Full size trucks, ok for short people. think my ceiling is 13-1/2 feet where hoist is, if i lift it to top its too damn high to do anything. Bottom of my drive on is 6 feet at full rise.

Rule of thumb, your own height plus 7’. The 7’ allows for a standard car with the hood open to clear.
If I were building from scratch, no less than 14’. For someone your height, 15’ is better.
Mine is 14 ft where the lift is. I have a 2ft extension on it , so I can walk under pop up vans and tall vehicles.
For me that would be the 12 foot ceiling.
4'7" + 7' = 11'7", so I'd have 5 more inches of clearance.

If you go to the lift manufacturer that you are wanting, they will have a maximum height needed. Add a foot to that

There is no maximum height needed...just a minimum.
I will have to consider the neighbors view, I do not want it too imposing.....No permits this time......Hope she does not call.......
