Slow going. Ferd bolts are 30 apiece. So i came up with a work around. Threaded nuts to 5/8”. So by the end of the day i will have fixed the stuff i had to wreck to get box off.

Typical box bolts on a Ford always the same Torx bit gets ruined and end up cutting the bolts off and replacing both bolts and nut plates that you have to fight the insurance co. to replace. Pain isn't it Tooljunkie I know done many.

Yes, Torx points are sharper than Torx +. You can use a torx+ in a torx but because of the shape you have to use one size smaller (usually) and that's why they strip.

Sure would have been nice to have you around I don't know how many torx bits I sent back to snap-on.
Mac tools hasn't been around in years I think 2001 was the last truck Iv'e seen around here.

I replaced all mine with 5/8" grade 8 bolts with a nut, lock washer and standard washer. Sucks you need 2 people, but way better than $100+ for a bolt kit.
I saved the nut plates, threaded to 5/8”. So i can still manage it by myself. Tomorrow i chop off cab corners.

Didnt strip, shattered. The bolt would move with a snap, i popped 4 bits.didnt even pull that hard. Maybe 150 foot-lbs.
i think it has something with the anti-sieze they didnt use.

Anti seize would have been nice on all cars instead of lock tight I think. LOL

And some rust from the bottom.

Mine were all rusted and junk. I did weld the nut on the frame by the fuel tank. No room to hold the wrench in there.. Never Sieze everything when going back together. Side note, I broke a leaf spring on a road trip. Got a used spring pack to get home. Was able to take a bed bolt out, with nut and washers and use it as the spring through bolt after having to cut the original one off. Then replaced the bed bolt when I got home. And all 4 new leaf spring packs.

I didn't read back, you are talking about truck box bolts ....

You guys who live in rusty areas, I'd have a twitch in my eye if I had to look at that much rust....geeez.
