They can be fun at times. Glad you have the spare to steal parts off of.@halifaxhops Ray, i opened up my distributor, one spring was stretched. And the tiny pin it hooks on was worn almost all the way through. Also the slot on the shaft was worn badly. Pulled my spare and robbed parts to repair it. Thats fiddly work imho.
And it turns out the vac advance on it was good, whomever put the vacuum line on it cross threaded the fitting. Im still going to use the new one, but this gets me closer to a better running engine. Definetly needs all the help it can get. All cleaned and oiled, ready to fire again.
International another crazy expensive engine to rebuild....Just got done checking out a AMC 390 distributor. Man we thought parts are high AMC is ridiculous. Nice guy wants his 69 AMX scoped out prob do it this week for him.

I am about to start working on a 1968 international harvester with the 361? Its for a family friend and boy, it has been sitting for at least 25 years. I'm in for a fun time. Also, ive looked for parts already and i am screwed.Even when they were easily accessable in the market place you had to know the name of the IH's parents, delivery Dr, which hospital it was delivered, DOB just to get parts
I had a real nice International Bob tail, my driver lost his key. So he hot wired it, and blew a hose and overheated the engine, no gauges being hot wired. Heads were cracked. Sun of a ***** they were crazy expensive. So much so I never repaired the thing....Even when they were easily accessable in the market place you had to know the name of the IH's parents, delivery Dr, which hospital it was delivered, DOB just to get parts
all of this and there are around 50 or so spider eggs underneath the hood and another bajillion inside the car. not good for a guy that is scared of spiders.
Agreed!International another crazy expensive engine to rebuild....
Not quite that extreme.. But still fun stuff!I likes the old Scouts, but sell everything under the floor boards from the radiator support back except the springs and add a 408, 904, 4" drop front axle, 9"
How about the 196 or the 152 turbo 4 cylinder. (half of a 392 or a 304).
Revived a dead 152 for a buddy. In 4wd low, The little Scout would climb trees!
