I have been working on a lot of late model junk and you really get used to it. It's often easier to drop the whole subframe out to get to anything.Watching a video. Ya, it's a turd of a job. Nothing is simple any more.

Indeed. I believe they were something like 11 feet long.Somebody didn't like the chains either. LOL
Assuming it's mounted for a rear wheel drive car. On a transverse mounted engine some have the water pump on the back of the engine which would be on the driver side over the transmission and that is a ton easier than fighting the passenger frame rail for wrench space. It does achieve making the engine shorter so they can shorten up the nose of the vehicle. In similar fashion to how Chrysler engineers designed the Valiant around the slant six. It was the first inline six to have the water pump offset to the side to allow a shorter nose on the vehicle. Worked pretty good, too. Wouldn't you say?
If you think those are a *****, go find an old GM Quad Four and put a water pump on that. lolAssuming it's mounted for a rear wheel drive car. The ford vulcan 3.0 is an example of that
Or a starter on a Northstar! If you think those are a *****, go find an old GM Quad Four and put a water pump on that. lol
Now that's just stupid. There are also some Mopar applications with the starter mounted INSIDE the bellhousing. Makes you wanna just beat the **** outta some engineers.Or a starter on a Northstar!
Those are weird looking little engines. I junked a 90 Oldsmobile Calais with a quad four..... weird *** little car. Looked like it was designed on Mars.If you think those are a *****, go find an old GM Quad Four and put a water pump on that. lol
But that's a walk in the park to change. We have one. Kitty's 04 Escape. I haven't put a pump on it yet, but it's RIGHT THERE in your face when you open the hood.I have it backwards, I meant to say ford duratech 3.0, it's the dohc with the water pump on the back.
The vulcan 3.0 is the older design with the water pump on the front so you can wrestle with the damn frame rail like in a taurus ..... ask me how I know. I fought the frame rail and the frame rail won.
Plus if your serpentine belt takes a crap, you can still drive the car but just have to wrestle the steering wheel without power steering, I did that in a taurusBut that's a walk in the park to change. Jeep with the 4.7 The water pump was the easiest water pump I have ever changed. A little over an hour does it. I didn'r even have to remove the shroud although would have made it easier. I like my 4.7I don't know how hard that is. It doesn't have to be timed so maybe not a bad job. I will have to ask Mark next time I'm at the dealer.
Hey its Tike and Willy!
Tax dollars at work there!
What's Friday?
