Kits are different for one. Dual pumps cause an issue if you’re trying to swap Valve bodies.
Converters have a different spline count so don’t go ordering just any converter
Ahh ok.. yeah i'm probably going to order a rebuild kit from Cope to make sure i get the right stuff... and i tried to find a 19 spline converter and not gonna happen.. been looking for a core to swap the input shaft and support... Kinda hope cope would send me some takeouts:)

Yeah.. Simple thing like using the proper filters (dual intake so two-hole) ... Valve body swap is fine, you just have to make sure it is a 64 - 65 dual pump valve body. Getting good cables is a challenge. They are a bit pricey if they are leaking. Early speedo gears are different... What else? I rebuilt the ball and trunnion on the driveshaft...that was a challenge but not really that difficult ( I had a rare flash of patience).

We need to set up a collaboration site so we can develop that book Chris. There are definitely some hard lessons I've learned for sure, from the dash mechanism to damaged cable lock springs

I had a converter built for me... yeah.
yeah.. i'm too cheap.. and talked to places and no one even wants to... There is a PHD 3500 converter on facebook near me.. but never heard of PHD and read some bad reviews..

Lon Kopaska ( @lkopaska ) has been a great resource for me... and the conversation I had with Rick at AandA was very informative. Might want to check with them (AandAtrans.com) when you get to needing parts and such. Great tech resource from my experience.

Yeah.. I had estimates from Precision of New Hampton and others but went with Biltron. They can rebuild yours so there isn't a question on fitment. Rebuilt Torque Converters — Biltron Quality Automotive Remanufacturer

With any of the good ones, it's a phone conversation on your application and level of performance you are seeking.

Nice.. i will keep that in mind (and probably forget) I really need to get my engine/trans out soon.. hoping to start removing the front clip this week

Warming up here I seen a flock of Geese fly by and a horse fly tried to eat me when taking out the garbage.
Think one more snow fall is normal here than it's summer.

Bald Eagles buzzing around, geese, sandhill crane and those stupid japanese ladybugs.

99 percent of converters you’ll see listed will not fit a pushbutton.

I know.. i need a 19 spline or convert the trans to 24 spline.. been looking for one.. i will get the parts to convert eventually
Conversion cost really isn’t worth the hassle. The conversion cost will end up being a wash with a custom made converter. Generally speaking,

a old 727 is like $100-150... a converter will be like 700+ unless i'm missing something.. I am going to talk to that place about the custom one though

Back in 2022 PnH was around $730 with a $300 refundable core charge but that was for a 6cyl
CNC didn't have anything to support a Pushbutton
Biltron was about the same as PnH with a more rapid turn.

I went 400 over stock on stall

When I say that I’m figuring in that you’re going to be spending 400-600 on a new converter for the newer 24 spline. If you just rebuild and use a used stock converter, than sure, you can save that. But if not, you’re still in the conversion for 500-800 bucks.
