Stop in for a cup of coffee

hey, something I noticed. I had asked Joey about the thanks, likes and agrees. he replied that they would all tally on your likes. as far as I can tell only the likes are adding up...

I had over 1400 "thanks" before the update....

when I was born, a doctor actually pointed at me to my parents and said "this one will likely not make it" because I am the second baby of twins and I was undersized.

HA!!! in your face doctor!!!!! I am alive and kicking....shows how much he knows :icon_fU::icon_fU:

I bet a dollar that there are 2 reasons that doctor said that.

1. He was an Indian doctor filled with presumptive arrogance
2. You were a girl and therefore shouldn't be given much consideration or concern for your health and well-being.

I am immersed in the Indian culture in the Pharmaceutical industry and have found some things to be universally true within the Indian culture...and I'm always stunned by the complete lack of logic in a lot of it.

Most of the first generation Indian women (born in the US) that I work with are highly capable and motivated where the first gen men are filled with an attitude of entitlement that is very often far beyond what their actual capability merits. We refer to them as JAFI.

Just Another F'in Indian.

what you are saying could have a lot of truth ....except he wasn't first gen ...because this happened in India.

I was born in Hyderabad.

you probably found out what they were doing to female babies in the 80s before ultrasounds became illegal......that is why women my age generation in India are not really around compared to later generations when it was less one way.

I think I read somewhere that for the mid-80s .......for every 100 males, you will have an average of 55 girls. times a couple million LOL

JAFI.

yikes :wtf: I never heard that before...but I actually know the attitude you are talking about from the men.

I get that same attitude from them when they are born in the US....they act like I am below them because I was born in the old country and got here out of sheer luck and circumstance. (like it matters) I originally resisted coming to the US because I was scared and young and I didn't know what to expect.

no one told me the streets are paved with mopars or else I would have come sooner.

They gave my great grandma 6 months to live back in 1970 after her first heart attack...

She finally died in 1981 after surviving a second heart attack and a stroke.... The stroke is what did her in...

That attitude is very common from the first gen men in my experience. I worked with an Indian Senior VP of Global Supply who hired a young Indian Woman (from India, not first gen) who had earned her Ph.D. from Rutgers in Chemical Engineering with honors and then promptly made her an administrative assistant doing nothing more than scheduling meetings, doing photocopying and bookkeeping for his staff.

He was an ultimate example of JAFI. For me and the majority of my colleagues, if you are capable you get treated as such. Your gender or ethnicity is irrelevant. Know your stuff and you get recognized...and we get seriously pissed off at the kind of attitude and treatment I described above. We eventually got him fired and helped her get a new job doing what she was skilled in.

This is America Jack, play that kind **** and we will break our foot off in your self-entitled Royal Azz!

Hey do plugs on this

when I was born, a doctor actually pointed at me to my parents and said "this one will likely not make it" because I am the second baby of twins and I was undersized.

When I was born. mom said Oh what a treasure! And dad replied let's bury it. Actually dad was the good parent. He raised my sister and me when mom walked out when I was nine. I miss him everyday. Mom is still alive 92. Haven't spoken in years.

HA!!! in your face doctor!!!!! I am alive and kicking....shows how much he knows :icon_fU::icon_fU:
