I don't want to be a Debbie Downer but I hope the brake drum lathe can chuck up the hubs with no bearings. You may want to ask them before you leave your shop.I did it, removed all the inner and outer wheel bearings and races in the front I cleaned everything up and now I need to take the drums to get cut. after I get that done, I will install the new bearings and seals.
I really enjoy working on this car. I am learning A LOT! Thanks to all of you!!
Man bummer, I didn't know that? I guess I can throw the old stuff in just to get it done.I don't want to be a Debbie Downer but I hope the brake drum lathe can chuck up the hubs with no bearings. You may want to ask them before you leave your shop.
LOLFront? Just drive he races out they are made to do that. Clean out the grease you will see where the punch fits. Use brass tapping them back in. Super easy. If he is checking the drums on a brake lathe have him do it with the new races in that way it will be "true" to the new bearing. I know your OCD!!!!!!!
oh, ok missed that part
Just be sure that the new races are all the way home in their seats. Otherwise the drums will not turn trueoh, ok missed that part
Bearing races are usually in to machine drums.I did it, removed all the inner and outer wheel bearings and races in the front I cleaned everything up and now I need to take the drums to get cut. After I get that done, I will install the new bearings and seals.
