g'morning Tim
Me too. 100%.hey - you do mostly small blocks right?
Well, I have fought with small blocks the most. Big blocks for some reason never gave me the problems SB did. Whats up?hey - you do mostly small blocks right?
I did that - then I turned the engine so my damper reads what I believe is 12* advanced - my concern is that it is opposite.. 12* retarded..Well, I always set the Dist. so the Rotor faces right at the number one cylinder, But it makes no difference where it faces as long as the firing order is correct and you can move the Dist to get it timed.
Need a light... and a Timing tape to put on your Damper.I did that - then I turned the engine so my damper reads what I believe is 12* advanced - my concern is that it is opposite.. 12* retarded..
humm....So Advanced timing will put the rotor to the left of the number one post on the cap. If like you said the number one is in the front of the cap. So it sounds like you have it wrong.
Clockwise!Number TDC, where the rotor faces is number one on the cap. go from there, 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 counter clockwise.
If you have your #1 post in the dizzy at 6 o'clock the rotor would point at 5:30.ok - lets do this - where would the rotor be pointing if I am 12* advanced? I am thinking rotor points forward essentially straight to the front of the car but the distributor/cap assembly should still have #1 pointing to #1 - yea?
LOLSee! clock wise I am still in BB thinking. Sorry!
Correct. If you have your #1 post in the dizzy at 6 o'clock the rotor would point at 5:30.
I had to triple-check before I dared to reply. I'm the rookie, you know.See! clock wise I am still in BB thinking. Sorry!
