Body color looks much better.. my car came body color.. why paint it black?
Many Mopars from around 65-73 with bright colored paint, were spray bombed black where you could see color through the grills. This was done at the factory. But no rhyme or reason as to why some did not get it. The 68 RR and the 68 GTS I restored were both black behind the grills, but not the entire rad support. Only where they thought you would see. Most dark colored cars did not get this treatment...Body color looks much better.. my car came body color.. why paint it black?
That's odd to me.. i like them body color, did a quick look and all i found were body color, but also restored and probably not to factoryMany Mopars from around 65-73 with bright colored paint, were spray bombed black where you could see color through the grills. Less distracting. They painted them from the factory. From a pit below the car. They used thinned down undercoating and sprayed it out of a wand like a weed sprayer. All but black and dark colors got painted unless someone goofed. I can't see restoring a car and not blacking out the support.Body color looks much better.. my car came body color.. why paint it black?
Yeah, Usually only the guys looking for a 100pt restoration will duplicate that effect. I did redo it on both of those cars. And ...Yes...with a spray bomb...That's odd to me.. i like them body color, did a quick look and all i found were body color, but also restored and probably not to factory
Yup Mike. You see how runny the color looks on both those cars ? They were never apart before I got them....Less distracting. They painted them from the factory. From a pit below the car. "Black out paint or fluid deadener" It was pretty runny for sure. Yo can see it on the bottom sides of the reliefs in the sheet metal. Terry has some splatters on the underside of his hood on his original 68. With that, it appears it was done towards the end of production with the hood on. Like final sheet metal assembly.Yup Mike. I know.. just hate to see things get crushedLots of work there……

soooo much rust
But they do runI also don't get the hardon people get for six-packs though, just seems like a good way to invite more problems and tuning issues
Better than a good single carb though? i mean.. if someone gave me a setup really cheap i would run it for sure, but for what they cost i don't get it is allBut they do run
