Stop in for a cup of coffee

I have a question for you x-spurts....The perimeter officer (the guy that rides around in a truck watching the outside fence) stopped me as I was leaving and asked me if I would be interested in a 340. It is a 72 has crank, pistons, no heads. He bought it in 1996 for $150. No idea what condition it is in. He was told it was running when torn down. What's it worth? My Challenger is a 72...that would be good in there but I bet there would be a lot to get it complete.

Well, if it's in decent condition and turns over with a wrench on the crank, I'd offer him what he paid for it. If it won't turn over, $50 tops. It's really just a core.

I would then tear it down, machine it and rebuilt it from the bottom up, score some new heads and build a nice power plant out of it for your challenger.

I was kind of thinking that and then thought maybe it wasn't enough. I offered what he paid but he said he would think about it and look into what they are worth. I didn't want to offend him because he is a decent guy.

Your car looked good! Looked like a good show. But really a fire extinguisher? And ole Keith...what a guy! Isn't it cool the friendships being built here online!

No kidding! I was sitting in the car and looked up to see him walking over. I had to do a double-take to be sure it was really him.

It really made my day that he came out!

Here's one posted a few days ago. It's a complete '71 340 for $750.

340 engine for sale - Classic Mopar Forums

I'd say that makes the unknown condition '72 short block worth right around what he paid for it.

One of my MN FABO friends introduced me to "hot dish." That's what they call a casserole. One is called "tater tot hotdish." I made it for the second time tonight. Man it was good and easy.

Brown 1 lb ground beef and chopped onion & seasonings, drain off fat
Put in bottom of 9x9 baking pan, top evenly with mixed vegetables
Spread with 1 can undiluted cream of mushroom soup
Cover with slices of cheese
Line tater tots tightly in rows on top
Bake covered at 375 for 30 min then uncover and bake 15 min more to get your desired amount of crispness.

Sounds good! Kinda like a Sheppard's pie with tater tots.

Are the tots pre-cooked or frozen ready to bake?

I just ordered new KYB front shocks for the GTS. I'm getting a slight tire rub at the top of the tire on the wheel lip when making hard right turns. I think the front suspension is compressing a little too much. The front gas shocks are of an unknown age, so I might as well swap them out since I put in new rear coil-over ones last Fall.

I will dial up the torsion bars an inch when I put them on to get a little less compression too. Currently the front to rear rake is 4" bumper to bumper and 3" will still have a nice look with a little more super stock style height overall.

I also hooked up the vacuum advance again and dialed in the timing. Oh boy! What a difference across the RPM range. She jumps like a tick on a hot plate at 60 mph with just a little push on the go pedal!

from everything I have read you want 2cfm per HP - - so Ramie is right in there - what I can't figure is Dave (Ddaddy) says I should be pushing over 500HP but for sure that 950 I had on there when I got the car was too much...
Hey, I think I browsed past this comment.
It the guestimates surrounding my engine is correct then a 750 could be just right by this rule of thumb. Like I said, I think I'll stick to it for now.
Might get another core or two to refurb and sell over here, though. Seems possible to make a buck doing it.

hell yea, there's always $$ to be made if you're up for rebuilding carbs.. I hate doing it and will gladly pay someone else - kinda like exhaust work.. mostly a PIMA and if I had the ching right now, I'd be farming it out..

it appears I am alone in the coffee shop... it's mine - all mine - no coffee for you!! bwwaahahahahaa.. that'll be one million dollars if you want a cup... no cream -- infidel, I keel you! - and there we we're, surrounded by Indians - - grandma beating them off with pancakes... the lawyers scratching their heads.. too many elephants reading out loud.. no one letting Rudolph play..

Oh and I looked it up ....reindeer are not real.

Christmas was confusing because I didn't grow up with it.

When I was young, I was told that Christmas is the birthday of Mr. Jesus Sir.

Then I move to the states when I was like 14 and I see Mr. Santa and reindeer and stuff I was not familiar with so I didn't really know what to think about all that because it caught me by surprise

Good morning , wow ! Scamper got on a very creative role !

Culture shock it must have been. And also good morning Rani

Well I guess Mr. Santa is throwing the birthday party.

I think a Christmas cake is more appropriate because isn't that what we do for a birthday
.......chocolate cake and ice cream.

I get cake every year for my b day
