This Harley's got to be better than the Triumph that I chopped when I was around 19 years old. Then... there's this thing that I ride in Vietnam.

Man that Triumph is bad to the bone. Don’t you wish we had all those back? I can’t tell you all the bikes I have had that we chopped flopped wrecked and rode. To quote my Brother Bear (RIP)
Enjoy the wind Mitch!

Gonna spend some more time on this Shovel Head today, while I'm waiting for car repair parts. Hope to fab the rear brake hose and M/C today and get it juiced.....
Thinking of bikes I have my grand kids mini bike I need to repair again. This will be the 4th time but don't mind I have them help me fix it that way they learn and I get to hang out with them.

I'm hoping to get all the gaskets and bolt- on stuff onto the engine this weekend

Are there things I should wait on until it's in the car to attach? I'm thinking alternator and distributor just to have a little more maneuver space

I always try to install the engine with as little attached as possible. That way you have less chance of dinging up or scratching up stuff. Easy enough to add on the engine after it's in. Not sure about your exhaust manifolds or headers though. I will try to do that when I install an engine at the same time.

I like to leave a bunch off, less chance of a scratch.

I was planning to get the exhaust manifolds bolted on before install I suppose that without the radiator installed I could put the fan on once it's in the car?

Hey guys. Was lots to backread!! Chris, you putting in engine from top or bottom? Bottom is easiest and you can install most everything before hand. Even the manifolds....EZPZ

Depending upon how tight things are on the left side of the car, sometimes I will lower the engine in and bolt the manifolds to it as it drops in to the car. I'm not sure how much room you have on your car.

I'm quite sure he's doing it from the top

Might be tight with the manifolds on and the column in place.

That sounds like a good approach... it's a 318 but dimensionally, similar/same as the 273 which was an option on the car...

So should be about like this:
