Stop in for a cup of coffee

Had enough for today-almost. Have to shuffle some vehicles and get the 35 back in the shop. Then im done. Had to put winter tires on a customers car, hes tired of the vibration from excessive runout on the cheap steel wheels.
Trading vibration for noise from studded tires.

Haven't needed studs or chains in years and if I need them I just stay home.

I told my customers that on the tool truck. If my school is closed you probably won't see me. If your school is closed you probably won't see me.

Got to admit I liked studded snows. But the way they treat the roads these days, hasn't been any point in dedicated snows.
If I was in NW NJ or NY state, I'd probably consider the snows. The Heep has A/T tires with the snowflake rating - as always with a vehicle like that its the stopping and turning where traction gets light. Not sure what the Barracuda's next street tire will be. I've been thinking of puttng the same tires on it but I don't think they are available in a 215/70r14

Yeah unless you’re high up in Montana or Alaska, I doubt chains or studs help much these days between road treatments and tire tech

No use in being part of a pile up in traffic and after working in the oilfields hauling crude oil with a semi trying to deal with bad roads and stupid drivers I'd rather not.
Yep Mike I agree 100%.

Fond memories late night country back roads and holeshots with studded tires
Different here the roads seldom get slippery more of a drift going across the road that gets deep and visibility and as you well know the below temps is a killer if you get unprepared and stuck in a ditch.
Keep thinking of what you went through in the high mountains I can't remember Was it the Alps? Ya got more idea of survival in cold weather than me.

I dont think studs are all that necessary, with the tire technology now. But thats what he wants.

I was paid to go do ridiculous things. Yes. Spent a lot of time in very cold places and at very high altitudes...
