Stop in for a cup of coffee

hi

so what gauge of steel do people use for torque boxes?

I saw an ad for US car tools say 1/8" metal and I have other ads say 1/4 " metal .....that's quite a difference....so now I am confused on which one to use

Never done those, but 1/4" sounds like big overkill. From what I measured on the rusty duster the frames was not even 1/8". Maybe 12-14 gauge? I would think anywhere from 1/8 to 3/16 would stiffen things up and not look like you were turning it into a tank. Maybe 8 gauge (.164)?

Like the 'sawzall rodeo' comment. Guessing I check in at near twice your weight class, and I've taken a ride when the blade binds. LOL

Yup, Three times the length of my thumb !! Made ya look , didn't I ??

yea I would on any big block car. I know after 70 they put them on some 340 cars which is cute but I doubt a 340 will ever torque it down like big block power.

How dare you talk trash against 340's.... :finga: :wack:

We got some good rain, thunder, and some tornadoes last night. It's coming at you with the trade winds....

A tornado had supposedly touched down for 20 minutes and did some "remodeling"...

There was a second one also.

Early reports that there was a casualty from the storm, then a few hours later they "corrected" it to be a homicide.....

Get everything covered and tied down, there are some good winds.

It was warm and humid when I left class last night over 70° (the first time we hit over 70° this year)... I went to visit my buddy Doug, and when I left his house, the wind was blowing strong and it was down in the mid 40's in only 2 hours....

Karl, for some reason I visualize you out there with a tin foil cone on your head and a video camera plus a sign saying the storms chase me! LOL

Thicker is stronger.... :D :rambo:

Size matters... LOL! :tongue9:

I am pooped this morning ......stayed up all night. My parents are not here so one advantage of them going on their little vacations is that I can stay up all night running the compressor and grinder.

Then I got tired so I am going to leave it now and sleep and then re-measure to be sure and then go crazy with the welds.

Take a break and then go at it again... :sleepy2:

Then if you get tired again, take another break, as then you will be re-tired (tired again - LOL!).... Retired.... :glasses7:

You have to be tired before you can be retired... You can't re-do something that you haven't already done.... :glasses7:

The modern day "Ben Franklin".... :D

Doug's wife was saying that they had some cool video of the tornado from a local storm chaser.... :sign3:

It's all fun and games until someone looses an eye... :violent1:

It's good to see that they banned that prick, Mike440... Another scam related to Justin Faggot....

I hope that someone whacks that guy... It also is coming out that his grandpa is in on his scam (or knows it's going on and doesn't give a ****)...

So all of those comments in the PLY30 thread about "leave him alone, he's just my innocent grandpa..." Are all more lies. That POS deserves insulting midnight phone calls if he's supporting his grandson in his criminal endeavors...

Send them up here to the "big city", we'll take care of their asses.... A nice pair of cement boots and a swim in Lake Michigan will set them straight (called "Chicago boots").... Or let the Latin Kings use them as a pinata....

Good morning, last sips... This week I went back to "practice" mode on my futures trading, that's SOP if you have 3 losers in a row. Luckily you protect your positions so you don't lose much. Fridays most of the big money that drives the market has already taken off for the weekend so there's not much movement. While I was on there, we had a power surge and I lost my internet connection...you have your broker on speed-dial in case you're in the middle of a trade if that happens.

Anyways the Masters tournament is going on and we are busy with golfers out to eat big steaks and drink big wine, which is a blessing after a slow winter.

Hope you guys have some nice weather to enjoy your weekends.

Morning FABO!

X2... Had the strangest day, yesterday. The good: Met Trail Beast,a really good guy. Spent a few hours with him, can't say enough good, about him .The silly: an older sister ,has made the Craigslist" free" section, her new hobby. The necessary: Met with the oldest sister,to sort out an deceased family paperwork situation. (I always enjoyed spending time with her as a kid, even in our middle ages, the family chemistry still works) Seems like a non violent version,of Pulp Fiction.... Good Morning, FABO!(lol...)

I love strange days. My Bud next dor and I were in the need of straw for the hops field. Our normal farmer we get it from was out so to the feed supply store to buy 30 bbales at 3 ea. We had his new old trailer with us and took a different way to the store. We se a farmer loading the really big bales of hay onto a semi, stop and ask if he has straw, How many? Two of the big bales (17 small bales in one) No problem 100 ok? I had my business checks with me all are good, he forkes them onto the trailer and here comes our normal guy returning a cattle shoot. Small world. Get talking wile having a beer and I see this really neat 1930's dodge panel truck 100% rusted out but you can just make out the lettering on the side. SHAPENING! So we start talking cars and I see an old valiant 4 door in the weeds. 1965 or so. Just a fun time getting straw, things like that always happen when we do things together.

Morning everyone! Up early getting ready to go to a Mopar drag race/swap meet at Mo-Kan dragway this am. I was like a little kid on Christmas eve last night. Couldn't get to sleep for ****. Isn't that weird that a 52 year old man would be so excited about something as silly as that?!? Gonna be a good day!

Morning Guy's . No Drag racing around here yet, but The Coming Out Car Show is tomorrow!! Used to think it was a show for Gehys !! Actually the biggest car show around here all year. Coupla a counties away from me.
